Happy birthday Mom. She doesn’t read this but I wanted to wish it to her nonetheless. Well, the 305 Chevy engine in Kansas didn’t sell. The dude sent me an e-mail asking if I was still interested. I told him if shipping didn’t go over $150.00 I was. I also asked him to verify that it was a complete engine less intake and distributor. I mentioned that sending it to a shipping depot in the DFW area would cut costs some as well. On the other hand, it is only eight hours to Olathe KS. I could just go get it. Of course I'd still spend $100.00 in gas and have to buy lunch and dinner for a co-driver. I might as well pay the shipping. Now, having said all of that, John and I discussed the car situation last night and we came up with a plan that this makes moo. We “decided” that Barbecue Bob would most likely get the VG-30 and I'd go with something else in the Chickenhawk. Of course with Mr. Olathe back in the mix, I'm back to an SBC in Barbecue Bob and the VG-30 in the Chickenhawk. I still think I want to do the supercharged Z-20 in John's 1200 as the Faux Rally Car. That leaves Gigi and possibly Herman with engine decisions to make. I think I'm going to plan on a slightly worked A-14 or A-15 with the Nissan Motorsports header and dual SU carburetors in Gigi. If Herman happens he’ll probably just get a stock A-12 and four speed. Again, if Herman gets resurrected he’ll just be a beater, most likely topless, as the Slowster. Being the math geek I am, Mrs. Barron is probably laughing her head off right now, I have been playing around with number trying to see if a 305 could be easily made into a 6.1 liter. Long story short, no it cannot. Oh sure, if I replace the crank it could be done, but it looks like a stock crank 305 will need to be bored out by almost half an inch to reach 6.1 liters. Where is 6.1 liters coming from? Well, if Juan were to use Nissan’s engine displacement to car numbering scheme, a 610 would need to displace 610 deciliters, or 6,100 cc, or 6.1 liters. That’s about 372 cubic inches by the way. Like I said, it could be done but I'm not going to do it. Well, if the engine arrives, assuming I buy it, and it is total junk that needs to be rebuilt, I might consider it. I probably won’t, but I might. Well, it is just past noon. I think I'm going to go eat. Mmm, Pasta Pronto sure is tasty. Unfortunately it has made me really sleepy. Well, I've been looking at stuff that I don’t need but really want. Well, I do kind of need it in a way, but not really. What am I talking about? Intake manifolds for the 305 in Olathe. I know I don’t have it yet nor do I really need it, but I am shopping nonetheless. That’s twice I've used the word “nonetheless” today. I find it to be an interesting word. It is more of a phrase that has been smooshed into one word. Hmm. Anyhoo, on the Summit and Jeg’s websites, the Edelbrock Torquer II manifold is the cheapest one I could find. Usually I wouldn’t think I wanted a single-plane manifold rated for 1,500 to 6,000 RPM for a street application, but I think bottom-end torque won’t be an issue in this car. In fact, the less torque, the better for this application. That’s one of the other reasons why 6.1 liters isn’t something I'm going to work really hard to achieve. Well, I think I've beat that subject into the ground now. I still haven’t done any more buying of parts for Mr. Wiggly either but I am making quite the wish list for it. As for the other cars, well, they still sit in limbo just as before. Oh, the AAR ‘Cuda stripes for the Pimpmobile came yesterday! It is really big! The more I look at it the more I want them professionally installed. The whelm level is very high on that one. I may go sign shop shopping this weekend and get a quote or two for installing that. Ok, I'm just about bored with this. I don’t think I'm going to make the two-page cutoff today. I guess y’all will have to settle for a short entry. Buh bye.
