4/20/06

Well, we got just exactly as much work done on George as I said we would. That would be none at all, by the way. I left here around 1530 or so and went to Northside Upholstery to pick up my tonneau cover. The zipper hadn’t arrived yet so it wasn’t ready. It may be done today. By the way, if it isn’t done today I'm picking it up anyway because I need it for this weekend. From there I went to the house to get the re-jet kit that I knew was sitting on the back porch. It was there and I got it. I headed for the shop and noticed that the clouds were beginning to gather. I got there to find John replacing the fuel filler hose on Homer. I re-jetted the carburetor for Mr. Wiggly and help him when I could. He finished up and we talked about stuff and things and stuff without once even considering doing any work on George. Oh, we talked about George, actually both of them, but we didn’t turn a wrench on the car and the dude was nowhere to defend himself. I know that if I had said anything, John would have made me work on the car so I let the evening slide by. Around dark we headed out to Applebee’s for dinner and called it a night. Oh, I had another look at the picture of the “ram’s horn” manifolds. I was wrong about the way they are designed. The outer cylinders do mate up with the inner ones right there in front of the ports. I'm going to assume it was to use the chimney effect for scavenging and continue to believe they are good manifolds. I'm still waiting for the guy to give me a shipping cost so I can pay for them. There was a Bored Meeting this morning so I had to come in early. I'm falling asleep at the keyboard now. I think I might shut my eyes for a bit. I may be back in a little while. Well, that helped. So, what to talk about? I've started looking for a transmission for Barbecue Bob. I'm having some luck but it doesn’t really matter right now. I'll have to wait for my next paycheck before I can buy one. That reminds me, I need to go in and add the manifolds to the Barbecue Bob costs spreadsheet. I think I'll go do that. No I won’t, not until I have actually paid for them. Never mind. I sure hope this rain goes away for the weekend like they have predicted. I'm not looking forward to driving to the Ranch in the Seven in the rain. I'll do it, but I won’t enjoy it. Well, I say that, I might enjoy it quite a bit. I mean any chance to drive the Seven is a joy. Yeah, I'm not buying that either. Remember the list of things I need to take to the thing Saturday? I guess I'll go ahead and print out what I have because I'm not coming up with any more things I think I'm going to need. I've got a strange whiff about me today. I've smelled it before on a friend from high school. I always blamed it on the combination of his BO and the snuff he dipped. I don’t dip snuff so I'm not sure why I'm suddenly possessing “Randy funk.” I just hope it isn’t as bad as it probably is. You know how you can have a stank about you that you can only smell occasionally because you are used to it? Well, the guys I had lunch with didn’t run screaming for the hills when I sat down so it may be all in my imagination. Well, it is 1545, I think I'm going to call it a day. Toodles.
