4/4/06

Ok, I've calmed down and I'm not as pissed off at the laptop anymore. I just erased the rant about it. Short version: the thing is getting slower every time I use it and it’s pissing me off. So, here’s the latest from DLR and e-Bay. I went ahead and ordered a one-to-two-barrel adapter from Clifford yesterday. I may have mentioned that. I also started shopping for a 38 DGAS or DGES Weber for it. I found a DGAS on a Mercedes 6 cylinder adapter for $9.99 or so. I know I said I'd probably go with a 32/36, and I will if this auction goes higher than I'm willing to pay, but I figured, “What the hell.” Speaking of “what the hell,” I think I might go get the Seven tonight and drive it to work tomorrow. I almost went for it last night but had to baby sit the termite guy while mom went to the church for something. So far the earliest thing I have in the morning is at 0900 so I think it is doable. I thought I'd be able to come up with stuff to say but I'm not having any luck. Oh wait I do remember something. The other day I took a guess at the stock horsepower of the Slant Six, well I was optimistic. Instead of 150 they made around 110 horsepower. That yields a torque figure of 173 foot pounds at 3,333 RPM. The boosted figure then drops to 153 horsepower at 5,000 and 240 foot pounds at 3,333 on 6 PSI. The nine-pound boost figures are 178 and 280 though. Academic I know, since I'm not going to put the blower on it, most likely. I did find another bit of kit that might make the Hyper Pak doable though. Offenhauser has a “ram tuning” adapter thingy that raises a four-barrel carburetor and offsets it by about eight inches. What this would do for me is set the carburetor back in towards the head at about the stock location! It increases the plenum volume and runner length as well though, which may hurt bottom end performance some, but then again I'm not going to do it so it doesn’t matter. Well, that’s about all I can come up with today. Maybe I'll be more informative tomorrow.
