7/10/06

I've been running around quite a bit today. It is 1530 and I'm just now sitting down to talk to y'all. So, what happened over the weekend? Ok, John brings the Pimpmobile back Saturday morning and parks it in front of my house. He says his sister keeps referring to it as “Her Magnum” so I'm going to assume the deal is still on. I borrow money from mom to get Mr. Wiggly out of hock then John and I head downtown. We swing by Kevin's shop since I see the doors open and show him the Versa. I remember that I need to get another $58.00 on top of the money mom loaned me for Robert so we head to my credit onion. I get out another $100.00 and we start back. Robert calls to say he’s still a little ways away so we stop at the Target by his shop and look at movies until we hear from him. He finally calls and we head that way. He ‘splains what all he did to the van and we settle up. I hop in and back it out. The clutch grabs at the very tip top of the pedal travel. I look like a total goober trying to get the thing rolling with too much gas and then a jerky take up. The seating position didn’t help as my belly was rubbing the steering wheel and my knees were hiked up pretty high as well. I kind of got the hang of it and we headed for the shop. I pull into a gas station but the shut-off on the handle was set too sensitive and it kept cutting out on me. I think I got a gallon in it before giving up. I took it on to the shop and parked. John asked if we were going to do anything or head on out. I said that if we were doing anything it would be installing the Grant Disco Wheel in Mr. Wiggly. He had me bust out the wrenches. He gets the old wheel off and we install the new one. It fits my belly much better. We look at installing the old horn button but give up. John informed me that the tire pressure warning light had come on in the Versa so we checked the pressure. They were all near 34 pounds and that was where I set them. The light stayed on. We went to the dealer so they could reset it. Half an hour later they had and we were on our way. We went to a hamburger place he knew of and ate then to the gun store so he could have the trigger pull lightened on his pistol. I dropped him off at his house and started to go to Gregg's to show him the Versa and make plans to get the Mustang off the trailer on Sunday. I decided against it for some reason and headed home instead. Oh, while standing around in John's front yard, we decided on a name for the Versa. Someone on e-Bay had a listing for Tiida parts but spelled it “Tilda” instead. We decided he probably thought, “Surely that isn’t two ‘I’s in a row. It must be Tilda.” It devolved from that to talking about “My Tilda” which became “M’Tilda” which of course created the name for the car. Yep, I'm going to call her Gertrude. Aw come on, you knew I was going to do something like that! You should have seen it coming. Of course the name is Matilda. I need to get the song “Waltzing Matilda” on CD now. John said that was what I'd be singing while hooning on FM5 from now on. John loaned me his copy of the movie “Clerks” so I went home and watched it. It was pretty good, I suppose. I didn’t hate it. [ As much as I built it up, it couldn't possibly have bowled you over... - SM ] The rest of the evening was wasted in front of the TV. I'm going to save all of the stuff I just typed about Sunday and share it with y’all tomorrow. It is 1610 now and I'm ready to call it a day. I still have to shoost this off to Spiderman too. Have a day.
