I dropped Matilda off at the dealer last night to have the Lo-Jack installed. It probably is a scam but it got me a lower insurance rate so I'm not complaining. I had discovered that I was double booked for 0730 this morning and made arrangements with the folks to stagger their meeting times with me. When I went to enter them into Petey I noticed I was not double booked but triple booked at 0730. I had agreed to drop Matilda off on my way into work! I got a call from the dealer and asked if I could drop it off that evening. He said I could so I did. Oh, another bit of “good news, bad news” happened yesterday as well. I called a lady from the church that works for the courthouse to ask about getting a duplicate title for the Pimpmobile so I could sell it. See, right after I bought the Pimpmobile I refinanced it at the credit onion but didn’t use the car as collateral. The original lien holder was supposed to send the title to me but sent it to the credit onion instead. When I called about it, the credit onion said that if there weren’t a loan against it they would have sent it back. We all assumed it was lost in transit somewhere. Ok, enough back-story, I called the lady from the church. She faxed me a form to send to the original lien holder, which would have to be signed and MAILED back because the state needs an original signature. I'd then have to go to Arlington to pay for a replacement title that would then have to be mailed to me of course. [ At Arlington they print it on the spot... No mailing... - SM ] It was going to take another month or so to get the damned title for the Pimpmobile! I was pissed! I decided to try the credit onion again. This time the guy actually went to the files and looked. Lo and behold, there it was! He put it in an envelope and left it with the receptionist. I picked it up on my way to the Nissan dealer. No, wait. I went home first and got mom to follow me to the dealer and then we went to dinner at Mexican Inn. I had to drive the Pimpmobile to work this morning. I already miss Matilda! Oh sure, the Pimpmobile is dead sexy and drives well enough, but it just isn’t as much fun. I'll sure be glad when John's sister buys it. Sorry, I got called away just then and lost my train of thought. So, I'll move on to another tack. [ If it's a train, shouldn't it be track? - SM ] I was on e-Bay this morning and looked at the listing for the Tanabe springs for Matilda. As a side note, “Tanabe” is in the tiny and flaccid dictionary, interesting. Anyhoo, I looked at it again and decided to browse the rest of the dude’s “store.” He had lots of different cars listed with different part numbers and different prices for each. I'm beginning to think it may be on the up and up. Of course, I'm broke at the moment and will have to wait until Saturday to order them. I really need to lower Matilda soon. Oh, I also found an auction for a set of Bilstein shocks. “Why are you looking for shocks already?” I hear you asking. Well, they weren’t for Matilda they were for Mr. Wiggly! Unfortunately, they were also $400.00 so I won’t be going that route any time soon. I'm sure it is probably a good price for Bilstein shocks, [ Not really - SM ] but I'm not ready to dump another four bills into Mr. Wiggly right now. I need to get him on my insurance soon so I can transfer the title. I have a dentist appointment on Tuesday and was thinking of taking the whole day off. If I can make that happen I'll do some courthouse work as well. I was trying to think of what else I needed to do at the courthouse and remembered that I sold the Patty Wagon so I don’t need to transfer its title after all. Perhaps I could send mom to the courthouse with the title, form, insurance, and whatnot. She’d have to attest that no one has gotten a ticket for non-registration though. Speaking of which, I should probably scrape off the old registration sticker before driving it again. No, I shouldn’t drive it again until I have it registered. Have I mentioned how much I dig that van? I need to get some raised-white-letter tires and mag-style lug nuts for the turbine wheels and get them installed. Then I need to have the windows tinted and a rorty zorst installed. Gregg suggested pentagon-shaped bubble windows for the back quarters. I'm thinking it needs a mural or two! One side needs to be a Scot in a kilt holding a broadsword over his head and a pasty Scot woman hugging his leg looking lovingly up at him. The other side needs to be a Viking with a horn-hat holding a battle-axe over his head while a buxom blonde Norsewoman swoons at his feet. [ Where are we going to find a Latino airbrush artist willing to actually paint that? - SM ] Oh yeah, that would be cool! Then again, perhaps not. Well, I think I've said just about enough for today. Buh bye.
