I'm dumb. Remember how I said I was going to look at that Versa on Thursday? Well not only was it a slush box, it was a CVT slush box. It was also white and looked like a refrigerator lying on its side. I told the dude to call me when a six-speed came in. He called Friday. I stopped by after picking up the axle for the Patty Wagon. The Versa was in make-ready having window tint installed but I knew from first glance that I was in trouble. It was a similar metallic blue as the Yaris hatch I passed on a month ago. That color has really grown on me for a hot hatch. They said the car would be ready for test-drives in about half an hour so I went home to get mom. I know, I'm forty and shouldn’t have to worry about my mother’s opinion on what car I buy, but I will be parking it in her driveway and if she’s totally against it my life could become a living hell. We stopped at Southerland’s to get a toilet repair hose thingy, something I was supposed to do while she was out of town, and then went to the dealer. The sales dude was off getting gas for the thing and we waited a bit. He pulled up and we went for a test hoon. I was in love! Well, I was in love with the six-speed; the car was just “neat-o” with some potential. I promised the guy I'd come back to talk to him, probably not that night, maybe on Saturday, definitely on Tuesday. Mom and I discussed it and I decided to go back and see what they had to offer. I did a little math and decided I could afford $315.00 a month or so since that was what $15,000.00 divided by 48 came to, more or less. I walked in and started the discussions. Unfortunately, I suck at bluffing when negotiating car stuff. He came back with a payment and I went for it. I'm dumb remember? Oh, I hesitated and thought on it for a bit, but I was hooked by the fact that it is the second Versa in the county and the first six-speed. He knew it too. Oh yeah, he had a sucker on the line for sure. Well, he took all of my information to the credit department and that dude quick-penciled me into more sucker-bet stuff. On the plus side, my payments are going to be $170.00 a month less than the Pimpmobile. I'm not going to go into how long a note I have, that’s one of the sucker-bet things I'm just not going to reveal. I followed the sales dude to the house and drove him back to the dealership. I went for a hoon. I called Pat to give him “first refusal” rights on the Patty Wagon and he said if I had a buyer to go ahead. I drove past his house but didn’t stop, not sure why though. I knew I would be seeing John Saturday morning so I didn’t trek to that side of town. I went home and confessed to what I had done. Mom wasn’t surprised or upset or anything. She just shrugged and wanted to know what I was going to do about the Pimpmobile. I had no good answer for her. Saturday morning I met the dude from Florida who wanted to buy a 1200. Actually, I drove FM5 first. Me likee the way that car drives! It took FM5 at a better pace than I have done it since the Scooby-Doo! I know the Seven could make the Kessel Run in under three parsecs, no wait, I know the Seven could do FM5 in better time than I usually do it but I just have a good time semi-hooning in it. Anyhoo, I pull up to the gate and there is Florida dude. He follows me to the shop and I toss the keys to John who is already ogling the Versa. I begin to talk 1200s with Mr. Florida. We come to a price for John's 1200 since all he wants is a shell. He decides to go ahead and see what the wife has to say about it though. She shoots him down in flames! He asks that I don’t sell it for a bit and I tell him it isn’t going anywhere. He leaves so John and I begin to discuss wheels and tires for the Versa. He has a set of 16” wheels that will fit but one has a couple tacos in the rim and another has had a blowout. I'll need to get the tacos fixed and replace all four tires before I can use them. We discussed him buying the Pimpmobile and it was decided that he’d wait to take it home until he had talked to Samantha and I had talked to mother. Mom was excited about John getting the Pimpmobile because it would keep it in the “family” and she likes doing stuff for John and his wife and kids. Speaking of whom, he called later in the afternoon to see what she had to say about the deal and asked if they could come over. I was hooning on FM5 again, after taking the Versa to the Motorsport Ranch to show Ray and Pat, so I said I'd be home in half an hour. Mom decided that we’d all go to dinner before John took the Pimpmobile home. We ate and then came back to the house. The plan evolved from John buying the Pimpmobile right away to John driving the Pimpmobile for a bit with a “for sale” sign and seeing if he would fall in love with it. He called later to ask for my bottom line price because he apparently had a potential buyer. I haven’t heard any more on that though. Oh, John and I also went to Cingular at some point during the day because the phone he got a month ago already has a bad screen. We didn’t get the insurance on it either. Since Samantha and I were both eligible for phone upgrades, we used her eligibility to get a pair Darth Vader looking push-to-talk phones and signed up for PTT service. We’ve already had our first social faux pas due to it as well. I just chirped him in the middle of a movie. Oops, sorry. Anyhoo, that is about all there was to Saturday. I'm not sure if I want to tell y’all about Sunday just yet. In fact, I'm going to save it for Wednesday. Have a swell Fourth. Buh bye.
