7/6/06

I got a little busy yesterday getting caught up after the holiday. That is why I didn’t have anything in here. So, here’s what happened Sunday. I started the day by cleaning my room. The dust was getting to the point where even I noticed it. I picked up, straightened up, and vacuumed up until mom got home from church. We ate some lunch and then I got back to it. After I was satisfied with the progress for one day, I decided to go for a hoon. I went to the shop and picked up that set of 15” aluminum Nissan Altima wheels that have been sitting in the corner for some time. I should have cleaned them right away but decided to wait. I loaded them into the back of the Versa, which I still need to name, and headed for the Motorsport Ranch. Ray was there all by himself so I asked how swamped he was. He was too busy with paperwork and such to mount the tires for me so I headed to the Boys of Pep. I ‘splained what I wanted and the guy took down my name. I walked the isles of the store and then went to wait in the service department waiting room. When the dude came to get my car is asked if he would be terribly offended if I moved the car since it was less than 48 hours old and hadn’t even hit 300 miles yet. He was cool with it so I pulled in. He raised the car and removed a front wheel. First test, would the wheel fit and clear everything? Yes it did and it would. Huzzah! Next test, do the stock wheels have tire pressure monitoring valve stems and could they be moved to the other wheels? Yes they did and they could. Huzzah! So, after watching him do the first two sets, I left him to his work and went inside to watch from the air conditioning. He mounted and balanced all four and bolted them back to the car. I tipped him for putting up with me looking over his shoulder and then paid the bill inside. Grand total: $55.00, including the tip. Does it look better? Oh, hells yeah! It still needs to drop about a foot, but it does look better than the steel wheels and hubcaps. I took it back to the shop to unload the steel wheels then spent some time cleaning the dust and grime from the “new” ones. They are temporary so I didn’t get too crazy with the cleaning, like I would have anyway, but they are much cleaner than before. Oh, the tire pressure monitoring system still works as well. At least it didn’t malfunction so I'm assuming it is working properly. Monday I came in to work and told the guys about the car. They looked it up on the internot and thought I was joking. “No,” I told them, “I really wanted to get back into a normal-sized car with a manual transmission. I really did get rid of the Pimpmobile for this.” Speaking of which, John's sister is about 99.85% sure she’s going to buy it this time. It won’t be until next week though. John is bringing it back to me tonight. So, Monday I “worked” and Tuesday was the 4th of July. I finished cleaning my room that morning while mom went and did something at the church. We had some lunch and then I, wait for it, went for a hoon! I came home and wasted the evening watching TV. “House” is in summer re-runs and is showing two episodes back to back so I watched each long enough to remember what it was about then surfed the channels. Yesterday I had some installers swapping out the projectors in the TOB large conference rooms so I had to baby-sit them all day. This morning I was running late and got a call at about 0805, while I was still at the house, saying that they were having trouble in one of the meeting rooms. I drove like a hoon into work, zipping in and out of traffic like only a normal sized car can, and got here in record time. Actually, it probably wasn’t a record but I did get here pretty quickly. I really like the way that car drives. I have no regrets. Well, I'm still working out details on the Victorian house I want in Boyd so I think I'm going to shut down for a while. I may be back later but don’t bet on it.
