8/30/06

I just wasted the last couple hours on the internot. I spent quite a bit of time on the K&N web site looking for an air filter for Matilda. I wish now I had taken some measurements from the stock filter while I had it out the other day. Well, I would have, and tried in fact, but couldn’t find the tape measure. I know, I should clean the shop and put all the tools away when I'm through with them. Shut up, it’s my shop. Anyhoo, I did find a cross-reference page that allowed Juan to find a replacement filter from the manufacturer’s part number. I got to the Nissan page and called the dealer to get the Nissan part number for the filter. Guess what, K&N doesn’t have one for the Versa yet. I was almost annoyed when I went in to the Toyota page and found that they had something for the Yaris. Turns out they make an oil filter for the 1.5 liter engine in the Yaris and the Scion models but no air filter. That was some relief at least. So, I'm going to take the requisite measurements from the stock air filter and see if they make a flat panel filter in those dimensions. I'm not going to hold my breath that they will though. Well, I got called away in the middle of that and have since gone to lunch. I'm obviously back but don’t really have anything to say. I've been looking back at other years in the archive and notice a trend. During the heat of summer I just can’t seem to be bothered with cars. All of my projects stagnate and I consider getting rid of a bunch of stuff. So hopefully when the weather begins to cool off I'll be more interested in finishing up George and getting going on Barbecue Bob. I am intentionally not shopping for more V8 stuff in the hope that I'll get back into the turbo project in George. I think, once again when the weather begins to cooperate, I'll go back in and remove all of the turbo bits from George's engine and “start over” under the hood. I don’t remember what is and what isn’t tight under there is the thing. Not to mention I could stand to spray a bit of paint around the engine bay. I don’t know, we’ll see. I just sent an e-mail to the dude in charge of the Family Day Car Show here at BNSF. I had mentioned bringing Mr. Wiggly along with the Seven but I'm not sure if I will. I know I'll have the Seven here for the event, and there have been “ratty” vehicles shown before so Mr. Wiggly won’t be too out of place. I'll need to get a hitch on it first. That, or find someone willing to drive it up here that day. Oh, it’s going to be the afternoon and into the evening of 09/22/06, by the way. Ok, this is getting me nowhere. I think I'll call it a rant and go, I don’t know, play solitaire or something. Buh bye.
