9/20/06

I so do not want to be here today. On the walk to and from lunch, the weather was so nice I almost considered thinking about the possibility of cutting out and playing hooky the rest of the day. I didn’t, obviously, or you wouldn’t be hearing from me now. Mr. Wiggly's mufflers did arrive yesterday and are in the back of Matilda right now. I think what I may do is go ahead and strip off the intake and exhaust manifolds, stuff the intake ports with rags, put the headers on, and build the zorst. Then, when the new aluminum intake and air filter bits show up, I'll finish the installation. I was talking to the lady in the TOB whose husband is a hot rod Chevy guy earlier and told her about my plans for Mr. Wiggly. She got a kick out of the fact that I'm going to build a dual zorst with glass packs for it. She couldn’t stop laughing about it. I guess it is kind of silly once you really think about it. Oh, I just remembered something! There is another Versa here at the railroad. I saw it the other day and had to drive by to check it out. It is an “S” model like mine, but I didn’t look to see if it had the six-speed. It did have the optional factory alloy wheels, I think. Mine looks so much better. I'll have a closer look at it next time it is parked where I have to walk by it. I'd like to know who’s it is. That isn’t right, is it? That should read, “I'd like to know whose it is,” shouldn’t it? Yes, I think so. But I'm not going to correct it because… well I'm just not. I had a look at the swamp cooler I bought for Mr. Wiggly the other day. I haven’t tried to hook it up yet, nor have I cleaned it, but it looks to be so simple that it would have to work. Only if the fan motor is burned out will it not. I mean that’s the only moving part. Well, I suppose the wiring could be bad in it. Oh, speaking of wiring, I'm thinking about gutting the whole wiring harness and starting over in Mr. Wiggly. I won’t do it until George is up and running unless it turns out that suspect wiring is what’s causing my alternator problems. Summit has a Painless Wiring eight circuit harness for $200.00 or I could get twelve circuits for the same money from Hot Rod Wires in Garland. Usually it would be a no-brainer and I'd choose the harness built in Texas. I'd consider Garland to be in Texas for this comparison. But the thing is, Painless is actually in Fort Worth. In fact, they used to be right up the road from my house. Another plus for the PW from Summit is my Summit credit card. I don’t know if eight circuits would be enough. I don’t remember what they all were but it included all of the major things like lights, turn signals, ignition, and such. I guess I'll talk it over with John and see what he thinks. [ Trying the PW might be cool? We've done the HRW, I'd like to see how it compares... - SM ] Well, I think I'm just about through for the day. I think I'll shut my eyes for a bit then send this off to Spiderman. Y'all have a day.
