I kind of jumped back into the story yesterday without any preamble, didn’t I? Well, today won’t be much better. After I got to work Wednesday and did what little work I had to do, I settled in to goof off on the internot. I did a little shopping on e-Bay but didn’t find anything I really needed. I shopped for tires but didn’t really feel all that inspired by that either. Finally, while reading the posts on vannin.com I had an epiphany, actually it was more of a “Well, duh!” moment. Those guys would probably know where I could find a parking brake cable for Mr. Wiggly! I asked. I shot the rant off to Spiderman and basically wasted a whole day at work, again. That evening I got a call from John and we discussed the Datsun event and how I felt about it. I'm not sure we came to any conclusions but it was discussed. Unfortunately, he called right near the beginning of a new episode of “Mythbusters” and we talked right to the end. I decided to go ahead and stay up for the repeat at 0000 h. Would midnight be 0000 h or 2400 h? Either way, I was up until 0100 h Thursday morning. 0600 h came way too soon and I had to help someone at 0730 h in the TOB. I made it but was dragging ass all day yesterday. When all my “work” was done and I could once again settle in to waste time on the internot, I checked the vannin.com posts again. One of the dudes came up with a Bendix part number! I went to the NAPA auto parts web site and ordered one. Now, I knew I had ordered it when I told y’all the story of the 200SX parking brake handle. I'm not sure why I went ahead and told it though. Kooky. So I goofed off the rest of the day thinking that John and I were going to the shop. He called at about 1715 h to ask if I'd rather go see a movie instead. I agreed and we met up downtown. We saw “Man of the Year.” It was, on first blush, a mildly amusing comedy with an intrigue twist. Upon further consideration, it should have been considered a conspiracy type suspense thriller with comedy overtones. Upon even more consideration, it was a barely passable, slightly suspenseful, thriller written by comedy writers. It just almost worked, but falls down on several points. I'm not going to nit pick the thing to death because I'm sure there will be plenty of other geeks on the web doing that for me. Besides, since I went in expecting a “wall to wall jokes” comedy and found them lacking, I spent the whole movie counting my laughs. Want the rundown? Ok, I laughed out loud twelve (12) times and had twenty-four (24) small amused snorts. Well, that’s about all I have to say today. John and I are planning to go to the shop Saturday and will probably put wheels and tires on Mr. Wiggly at lunchtime. I'll let you know on Monday. Toodles.
