1/24/07

I had nothing to say yesterday. Well, that’s not entirely true. I did get a couple of phone calls from Australia Monday evening. Seems someone forgot to give the guy the confirmation number so he could claim his money. D’oh! Mom was all excited to have spoken with someone on the other side of the planet but got a little mixed up writing down the phone number. I tried several times to call them to no avail. Finally they called back and I ‘splained that the number they wanted was on my desk at work. D’oh, again! I got a message from him Tuesday morning saying it was cool to e-mail the number to him and that I didn’t need to “ring him back” to tell them. I did send them the number and felt rather guilty all night for not calling. I woke up just about every hour last night and calculated what time it was in Australia then contemplated calling them. I never did. This morning I noticed he sent me a positive feedback already so I'm going to assume he finally got paid. Also yesterday I had a dentist appointment, which totally screwed up the morning. I have to go back tomorrow morning at 0700 h to have some more work done. Seems I've brushed through some enamel on a couple teeth and he wants to fill it in before I eat away into my brain or something. John called at some point to ask if I wanted the VG-30 and five-speed from the 300ZX off my plate as John Ullom wants to put it in the red 510. I was cool with that and found even more money in my Paypal account later. Woo hoo! We’re tentatively planning to go to the shop tonight to load all of that into the back of Mr. Wiggly so we can make a big engine delivery and pickup run first thing Saturday morning. We need to knock it out pretty quickly Saturday because at 1000 h I'm supposed to meet with the local owners of Sevens at Dick Brink’s to discuss the trip to the Tail of the Dragon this summer. Three hours seems like enough time, but we all know it won’t be. Here’s how I see it going down. We’ll load the VG-30 and stuff tonight or perhaps tomorrow night. Saturday morning we’ll drop it off at John Ullom’s house and go after the other engine. Oh, did I mention the other John has found an L-20b and five-speed for his car and that we’re also planning to get it Saturday? Yeah, well we are. So, we’ll drop off the one engine and go for the other. We’ll get it picked up but then there won’t be enough time to go back to the shop before I have to bail and go to Dick’s. I'll drop John off at his house and go to the Sevens meeting in Mr. Wiggly with the L-20b in the back. We’ll have to unload the engine at a later date. Of course, having spelled that out, John may come up with another plan. I'm thinking Sunday but we’ll see. I'm actually thinking about driving Mr. Wiggly to work on Friday if we don’t load the engine until tomorrow night. Hell, I might do it anyway. The new zorst really made a huge difference in that thing’s performance. Before I couldn’t get all the way into the throttle without it bogging really badly. Now I can’t do it because it makes too much torque and the clutch slips! What a problem to have, eh? John assures me a clutch job will be a one-day affair so I'm not too concerned with it stranding me. To lighten or not to lighten, that is the question. Whether ‘tis nobler in the hearts of men to suffer the slings and arrows of outrageous torque production, or… um, I don’t remember the rest well enough to go on. Sorry. Or perhaps I should be sorry for butchering it that badly. Anyhoo, what I'm getting at is should I have the flywheel lightened? I've given it some thought just now, and I think the answer is no. I'd rather have some mass to help get the ball rolling when I do finally get a trailer hitch on there. Speaking of which, I really need to do that soon since I am without a tow vehicle at the moment. Ding-dong, Pimp-MO-bile’s gone. Which-mobile? The Pimpmobile! Ding-dong, the Pimpmobile is gone! Oh, sorry but I get so happy when I remember that I don’t have that albatross around my neck anymore. Ahh, good times. I cannot believe I have filled a whole page already. Well, since that is the arbitrary point when I stop talking to y'all every day, I'm going to stop talking to y'all for today.
