The more I think about Barbara, the “new” B-210 I just picked up, the more I like the Faux Rally Car idea. I think one of the things I will do is use the DGV top hat I bought for the blow-through supercharger, attached to a snorkel running up the A-pillar of the windshield. If I go through with the supercharger, I'll re-plumb the snorkel to the inlet and the top hat to the outlet of the blower. I'll integrate an intercooler as well. I think having the snorkel might muffle the bypass valve somewhat, as long as it vents back in well downstream of the filter. Ok, I need to stop right now and get back to George. I have got to finish that project before starting another. Of course if I just slap some wheels, rally tires, a brush bar, and driving lights on Barbara, I could wait on the hot rod stuff. But I'd want to ditch all of the smog crap pretty quickly, at which time I might as well install a DGV, header, and zorst. It is a slippery slope. Speaking of wheels, I'm not sure which wheels I'd want to run on there. The Hankook Ventus R201 rally tires in 185/70-13 are $93.00 each or $99.00 each for the 14” size. Also, I'd need five matching wheels and tires because of the one on the roof rack. I'm considering using stock steel wheels with spacers to fill out the fenders. The Cragar SS wheels sure would be bitchin’, unfortunately I've only got four of those. I could go for some alloy wheels of some ilk I suppose. I do have six or more faux Libra wheels laying around, if I haven’t given a set to John at some point in history. I could probably find another one of those Capri “snow flake” wheels that are currently on the brown 210 but they’d have to be milled to the right bolt circle. My best bet would be either Libras or a set of Nissan/Datsun alloys. I think I'll talk to John about who owns the Chickenhawk's old Libra wheels. The more I think about it, the more I think he does. Own them, that is. We’ll see. I'm not doing a very good job of moving my attention back to George, am I? Oh, the DCOE to turbo manifold arrived from Australia yesterday. Now I need to win the auction for the shovelhead SU manifold. I'm thinking that since I'm such a bad ass aluminum welder now, that cockiness is going to bite me I know, I'll zook those two items together and be able to run that 40 mm DCOE in front of George's turbo. That manifold has what looks like provision for a water injection or perhaps a nitrous nozzle. John would be glad to see me run a “chemical intercooler” on there I know. Perhaps, we’ll see. Well, I just woke up to my screen saver. I think I'm going to have to call this rant complete for the day.
