2/2/07

I've got nothing. I just erased a “paragraph” about re-reading September 2003 and considering resurrecting the Herman’s-unibody-on-a-truck-frame idea. The more I thought about it the less I thought it was a good idea. I probably could have gotten by without even mentioning it, but I did. So there. I wonder if George still has that dune buggy. There is a vehicle of his that I could almost think about getting interested in, but we all know he’d never sell that to any of us. I'll bet he’d rather cut it into small chunks before he’d let that happen. Oh well, it isn’t all that special anyway. I was thinking about his big rig just now. If it were to come into my possession, which I have no desire for that to happen I assure you, I'd probably take a look at removing the fifth-wheel and making either a flat-bed to suck a car onto or a big camper shell box sort of thing. It would make a pretty cool camper actually. I'd have to shave the weight down to below the limit where I'd be required to hold a commercial trucker’s license. Which one is that, class A or class C? I don’t remember. Anyhoo, I know those stupid International Harvester pickup trucks come in right under the wire on that weight limit. I remember George saying his truck weighs 9,000 pounds. That is almost nine times the weight of my Seven or six and a half times the Chickenhawk! Yoinks. Hell, the engine block alone probably outweighs both of those cars. It might even crowd the weight of them combined now that I think about it. In fact, I'll bet it does outweigh the two of them combined. Perhaps not the block alone but the whole engine probably tips the scales over 2,500 pounds. George, want to chime in on this discussion? You can comment on this by clicking that button down below that says, “Comment on this post” or something to that effect. So, what else is there to talk about? Oh, I found a cold-air intake kit for Matilda on e-Bay yesterday! I went to the AEM website to make sure it was a legitimate part number and it is. I ordered one. Hopefully it will be an improvement. Aw, who am I kidding? Of course it will be an improvement just from the intake honk. Ok, I know the “who” two sentences ago should have been a “whom” but the sentence scans better the way I have it written. I'm not changing it. This week went by really quickly, I think. I can’t believe it is already Friday. John and I are going to Austin to shoot a car tomorrow. Fortunately we won’t be leaving until 1000 h so I will be able to sleep in just a tad. I'd like to go to the shop at some point in the weekend and have a look at the DCOE to turbo manifold I finally received. I wonder if there is enough room between the turbo and the firewall to mount the carburetor straight to the inlet. Of course if I use the right angle piece I already have built I might be able to get the filter under the hole in the hood. I suppose I could always make another right angle thingy. We’ll just have to wait and see. I do think the DCOE is going to be the best bet as far as carburetor options go. John wanted to try and figure out a way to make one of the throats of the DCOE function as a progressive secondary. It might be possible but the work involved would be monumental. I just remembered that I keep losing the auction for the Hardly Dumbasson Shovelhead SU manifolds. I've lost two so far and have one more auction going. I think if I lose this one I'm going to go to All Z and ask if he has a junk 240Z intake I can buy or preferably have for free. [ I have one somewhere... - SM ] I don’t know. Well, the guys are here to finally finish the work in the Board Room. I think I'm going to shoost this off to Spiderman and call it a week.
