Yesterday’s entry was a picture of the inside of the cabinet where I store my projectors. It probably should have had a caption like “Hey George!” or something. Every time I open that cabinet to get a projector I get a laugh as well. Well, John's “new” 510 is fighting us tooth and nail. We, mostly he, put on a new Weber carburetor last night, as well as new plugs and coil wire, but it still wouldn’t fire for us. We, again mainly he, reversed the plug wires in the cap to no avail as well. Either we, and this time I mean it, have something really screwed up in the ignition, or that gas is so old and varnish-y that it just won’t burn. I can attest to the fuel pump working because I watched as it sucked the fuel filter full of gas while I cranked. Oh, he also replaced the fuel lines and filter in the engine bay, I almost forgot. I don’t know what the problem is at this point. I'm leaning towards ignition, but only slightly ahead of bad gas. Well, we’ll see. So, I bought a set of wiper bushings off e-Bay the other day. The guy selling them was banking on people like me assuming they were made of Unobtainium and priced them… well, they were more than they were at O’Reilly’s. I got the part number from the Vannin.com message board and went to see if I could find them locally. I did. I feel a little dumb for the e-Bay purchase now. Of course the second set I bid on that ends this afternoon is the one that really pisses me off. I'm going to be stuck with a set of really expensive, totally superfluous, wiper arm bushings. I suppose I could have foregone buying the ones last night but if the others arrive today, I can get Mr. Wiggly back on the road sooner. I know, I could have bought enough last night to finish the job, but there are a myriad of reasons why I didn’t. Reason, the first: O’Reilly’s only had one set. Reason, the second: the other O’Reilly’s didn’t have the two sets they showed on the computer. Reason, the third: it was raining its ass off last night and I wouldn’t have been able to install them anyway had I found them. Reason, the fourth: the expensive set is on their way as we speak and I'd rather have only one superfluous set on hand, thank you very much. Well, I have to help some folks get set up for the Cesar Chavez celebration thing in the Viewing Gallery then go to the TOB to help the luscious Elizabeth [ Better hope she’s not reading this somehow… - SM ], the lady I was worried I had blown off at the airport the other night but who is being really friendly now so I'm not so worried after all, get set up for some meeting she’s in charge of. I think I'm going to consider this rant complete and call it a week, at least as far as ranting goes. Toodles. Oh, and George, see picture below!
