I'll try to remember all the stuff that happened on Sunday now. Pat called to see if I was willing to ride with him to the Motorsport Ranch and help unload his Miata. I said I would be glad to help. We decided to meet at the shop so I got dressed and headed that way. I unloaded all of the stuff from the track day and waited. He came walking up and we were off. He took the back roads down, and back for that matter, and before long we were there. We got the ramp down on the trailer and I said I had to go make a bombing run. I did the butt-clench walk to the clubhouse and released a hostage. Back at the trailer, Pat had the car un-winched to the point where he needed assistance. We got the car off and rolled it into the shop. I asked, “So, what’s for lunch?” He had said Nora requested a quesadilla from the taco stand by the gas station but I had forgotten. We went for taco stand tacos. Having never been there, I followed Pat's lead and ordered the chicken quesadilla. He also had a beef taco but I opted for two barbacoa tacos. The barbacoa was dee-lish! The quesadilla on the other hand, while still very good, was a bit too “processed American cheese food product” flavored for me. Again, it was good, but I'm not going to get it again. I'll stick to the $1.00 soft tacos from now on. Dang, now I'm getting hungry for taco stand tacos. Anyhoo, we leave there and head back to my shop. I decide I'm going to drive Mr. Wiggly home, take a nap, then come back for Matilda when I get hungry and go out for some dinner. I hop in Mr. Wiggly and head out. I start home but only get as far as the Aledo/Iona road turnoff. Yes, I know that is almost home, get over it. I turn off and go for a hoon. There is something to be said for big squishy tires and good suspension travel when traversing a road like Aledo/Iona. It is much quicker in Mr. Wiggly than Matilda, and even more so both of them compared to the Seven. I get to the 1187/FM 5 turn and decide to cut to the opposite end of FM 5 due to (tee hee, doo-doo!) traffic going the other way. I turn right and head into Aledo. I guess I need to find out what the name of that cutoff road is. Well, whatever it is called, I turned onto it. Oh, at the point where Aledo/Iona turns onto 1187, I had to roll the stop sign to avoid being stuck behind a bunch of Hardly riding douche-bags. When I turned onto FM 5 I noticed some of the traffic I had avoided at the other end as well as the douche-bags. I smiled at my intelligence. I hooned back on FM 5 and never shifted down from top gear. No, not even in the really tight left/right complex after the water crossing. I really like that van. I got “stuck” behind a Camry or something and noticed that they were braking for every turn while I just cruised on through at their speed. They’d gain some distance on the straights but I'd be right up on them at the apex and out, up to about 60 miles per hour, which was where I was holding my speed fairly constant. I had a good time and decided to go ahead and take Mr. Wiggly back to the shop and call it a weekend. It was 1645 h anyway so I might as well. I park Mr. Wiggly and hop back in Matilda for the drive home. I think I thought about running out to FM 5 again but I don’t think I actually did it. Yesterday at work, my Dingleberry arrived. I spent the afternoon trying to get it all set up and activated and all of the proper e-mail boxes routed to it. I'm still working on it. It works as a phone and gets the e-mail from my main Outlook box, but it doesn’t alert me to voice mail at my desk nor does it get the mail from the A/V request mailbox. I still have to carry the two-way pager for those items. I'm beginning to wish I hadn’t said anything. Oh well. I guess that’s all I've got for today. I'll talk to y'all again tomorrow.
