I finally fingered out what was causing IE to crash when sending e-mail. Apparently it was the spell checker on AOL’s e-mail program. I turned it off and now, I think, I'm able to send e-mail again. Well, it isn’t crashing immediately at least. I won’t know if they are going through until I hear back from someone. In other, earth-shattering news, the Spice Girls are reuniting for a world tour in December! Unfortunately, the closest venue to me is Las Vegas. It probably won’t be an issue since they are having a “lottery” of sorts to see who will get the opportunity to buy tickets. Oh yes, I did sign up as soon as I heard about it. I'm not really expecting anything to come of it, but Juan never knows. I have asked Pat, Amy, Allison, and John how many tickets I'll need to buy for each of them if I am chosen. I expect to get a “None thank you,” response from all of them though. But again, Juan never knows. Pat has said he’d have gone with me back in ’98 when I saw them at Starplex. Funny story about that concert, two actually, as I was walking from the car to the gate, I noticed I was the only thirty-something dude by himself walking along. I cupped my hand to my mouth and yelled, “Amber, Brittney! Y'all wait for me at the ticket gate!” so that others would think I had brought my daughter to the show. Then, during the show, I considered asking a group of flaming homosexuals if I could hang out with them so people would think I was gay and not a pedophile. I went ahead and stood by myself as if my “daughter” was ashamed to be seen with “dad.” There sure was some choice jailbait at that show. Mmm hmm! Hey, those girls will all be legal now, some ten years later! Interesting. Anyhoo, my clutch master cylinders and slave cylinder have arrived finally. Well, I say finally, it hasn’t been that long really. Thing is, I'm probably not going to work on George this weekend. Pat is going to pick up the trailer at the Motorsport Ranch in the morning and bring it to the Beenbroke shop. We’ll load the car and other stuff and then park it somewhere. My house, Pat's house, and the Beenbroke shop have all been discussed. I imagine it will wind up in the spot between the houseboat and shop until we leave. That makes the most sense to me as Pat and I could meet there at like 0600 h and then head east. Ooh, I suddenly have to go on a bombing run! And I'm back. I decided while I was downstairs to take a ride on the shuttle bus, just for the hell of it. I told the driver about seeing a Bradley GT in Kennedale yesterday. See, I had to go to House of Hot Rods to pick up Gregg's last two wheels from his Z-car parts purchase because they had finally taken them off the car. I cut out of work early to do it and it turns out I cut out about an hour too early. Of course, with the raging case of “short time syndrome” I have right now, it wasn’t likely. I started to go through a blow-by-blow account of the trip just now, but got bored with it myself. To make a short story long, I went I-35W to I-20 to Business 287 to 1187 to the hot rod shop. From the hot rod shop I went 1187 to Old Granbury Road to my shop. Now, that sounds like an easy trip but it really was quite a long haul. Why was I telling y'all about this? Oh right, the Bradley GT was on 1187 on the way back to the Beenbroke shop. I almost stopped but decided against it because of the Ford Anglia John is about to make me buy. Oh, I haven’t told y'all that story either! John called yesterday and asked if I was still interested in an “antique” British car. I asked what he had and he told me about a 1958 Ford Anglia that one of his customers has. I was online at the time, on Wikipedia, so I looked it up to get a feel for how one looks. That year would make it a 100e chassis. It looks good to me so I told John I'd probably go for it after I get back from the Tail of the Dragon. Later he sent me some pictures of the actual car and I think we can make something cool out of it. I think Barbara might donate her engine and transmission to it and then I'll find something else for her. No, wait, I'll put that A-12 from Gigi in the Anglia and leave the A-14 in Barbara alone. Yes, that makes much more sense. Even at an optimistic 68 horsepower, the A-12 is probably double the output of the flathead Ford put in there. Well, we’ve passed the page break so I think I'm going to call it a rant. I'll have a report on the weekend’s activities Monday but don’t look for anything Tuesday, as I'll be training my “replacement” and getting ready for the trip. Toodles.
