I bid on, and lost, a Chevy 350 in Houston. It is probably for the best that I did lose the auction because a) I really don’t need it right now, and 2) I really don’t need to make another run to Houston. I had a thought yesterday, which prompted the search for a small block Chevy. My thought was that since Barbara is probably going away, I wouldn’t be building that supercharged A-series engine. Thoughts then turned to a supercharged L-20b for Barbecue Bob. I talked myself back into the V8 and began to scour e-Bay. That was where I found the one in Houston. But I lost the auction so the point is moo. John has been thinking about taking Barbecue Bob off my plate as well. I probably should pursue that avenue. We’ll see. We went to see the movie “Knocked Up” last night. Not only did it reinforce my singularity, it confirmed my desire to NEVER have kids. Oh sure, the kids in the movie were cute and all, but they weren’t the problem. The problem was the crazy bee-otch that comes out when the hormones take over! I don’t care how hot she is, that was one crazy-assed thing up there abusing that poor guy. No thanks. Oh, and the shot of the baby’s head coming out of her cooter was so unnecessary! I totally did not need to see that. It was a funny movie though. The bit where the gynecologist looks under the sheet and says, “Oh, you do look like your sister!” about had me on the floor. But we’re not here for a movie review. No, we’re here to talk about cars. I wonder if I'm going to have to take delivery of the ¾ ton GMC this weekend. No biggie if I do, as long as Barbara leaves so I have a space for it. I thought my lowering shackles had arrived yesterday but it was another thing I bought on e-Bay. I'm still not telling what it is until John has a chance to grok it. I think it is funny. We’ll see. I had a look at my yard this morning while the sprinklers were running. I think the dual strips of concrete leading to the back porch in order to park George will work. I didn’t wait around for the big sprinklers to kick on but the ones by the driveway look to be spaced in such a way that I can maneuver the drives around them easily. I just wish we’d poured in a drive, or another parking spot, before we installed the sprinklers. Oh well, live and learn. I guess they don’t really need to be poured concrete, now that I think about it. We could lay out a brick drive thingy pretty easily. It’s not like a 1200 weighs anything. George probably won’t tip the scales much more than 1,450 pounds soaking wet. The Chickenhawk only weighed 1,499 pounds with the bigger engine. I need a set of scales. I thought about buying some last year but the cheapest I found were still over $1,000.00 for the set. I think I just figured out a design to use four bathroom scales and a series of levers and stuff. I know, it’s been done before, but I think I could build this. It would be awfully tall though. I wonder if there’s a “Big and Fat” store that sells bathroom scales that will read up to 500 pounds. Four of those would be sufficient to weigh a 1200 or a Seven for sure. Four 650-pound scales would do a 510 I'd bet. Interesting. I think I'm going to head back to the internot and see what I can see. I'll talk to y'all again on Monday.
