Just a quick report before I go to bed. Pat got up at about 0600 h and went for a exploration of the Fontana Village grounds while I slept a bit more. By a bit more, I mean about fifteen minutes. I got up and showered. I decided to look for camera batteries and went to the lobby. Oh, I did get dressed first. The front desk said that the General Store would have them and gave me directions. I decided to take the Seven. I uncovered it and hopped in to do that. I met Pat and told him my plan. I drove to the store and bought four packs, just in case. I headed back to the lobby and we went to have some breakfast. After b-fast we headed to Tapoco. That had to be ten of the most fun miles I have driven yet! We parked and I took a few pictures. I'll send them to John and he can do with them as he pleases. We wandered around while more and more people showed up. Registration opened at noon and we were waiting. Pat kept telling me to wait for registration number seven. I watched as a few people registered and got in line. I noticed it was about to be number five so I let John Thomen go ahead of me. I noticed a little lady behind him and let her go next. She’d get number six! Well, she would have if she’d brought a car. D’oh! Well fortunately Al figured out what I was doing, mainly because I said something, and said I could have number seven. Woo hoo! I filled out the forms and sheets with pictures and arrows and a paragraph on the back explaining what each one was. We hung around for a while and then had some lunch. After lunch, Phil and I drove up to a lookout with his wife and Pat riding along. We go from about 1,000 feet elevation to about 5,000 feet in a few miles. Phil’s car keeps slowing down while mine keeps pulling strong. I guess SU carburetors are a bit better than Webers after all! At the top, we get out and walk around. Pat and I change places and head out. We get about five hundred feet and Pat said the car had no power and was falling flat. I sheepishly turned on the fuel pump and we rolled on. Before long he says that his shoes are way too wide and we have to swap again. We catch Phil and then head back to Tapoco. We hang out some more and have dinner. They give us a card to vote for our favorite car for “Best Seven Type Vehicle.” I didn’t feel right voting for my own car so I voted for the car allegedly formerly owned by Tim Allen. Not because of that but because it had a really cool header and paint job. Oh, it was also a Birkin. We watched a video about the Tail of the Dragon and then headed back to the Fontana. It was again the best ten miles of my life to date. I'm now waiting for the zorst to cool so I can put the car cover on. I think I'll go do that now and send this off to Spiderman. I'll have a report about Saturday and Sunday on Monday, unless I feel like reporting something tomorrow.
