8/29/07

Well, the dude and I came to an agreement and I cancelled the auction. I might have made more on the deal if I'd left it up, but I might have made a lot less. If the dude comes through I think it will be for the best. He’s meeting me at the Credit Onion Saturday morning to test drive it and, probably, hand me a cashier’s check. I'd rather have cash but we’re not finalizing anything until my bank accepts his payment. Mom’s a bit annoyed that I'm buying a 1200 with some of the money and not applying the whole amount to Fifi’s loan. I was planning to pay out the Fifi loan over time anyway so this is not all that frivolous. John and I discussed the engine situation, vis-à-vis his 1200 and Marty. That’s Marty the car, not either dude named Marty that we know. A part of me wants the dual SU carburetors on an A-series in Marty but another part wants the Chickenhawk's old engine. It does make more sense to use the Chickenhawk's engine in Marty due to (tee hee, doo-doo!) the bigger transmission tunnel. I'm still torn as to what induction I want though. Fuel injection sure would make the thing more reliable, drivable and smooth, but the header, zorst, and solid motor mounts due lend a certain “racy” air to the thing that suits the dual side draft setup. Of course the flip side of that is the fact that I don’t actually have a dual side draft setup for that engine. Marty, and this time I am talking about the dude, has a set that he has offered to trade me but I'm not sure how serious he was. I'm also torn as to the SU concept. I'd like to finish that manifold and see how a pair of Z-car carburetors would look and run. I think it would be pretty cool. I know I'd have the only one in the world, but I've mentioned that before. I mentioned the solid motor mounts up above, I'm sure John will try to talk me out of using those but they work so well. We’ll see. Some other random dude contacted me yesterday asking if I might be willing to sell Barbecue Bob. I told him, “Everything has a price.” It won’t happen anytime soon, like not until 2009, because he said he’s shipping out to Iraq again and won’t be back until that January. Well, the car has sat on the back burner for so long I’m not sure it is even still on the stove. I'm sure I won’t get to it before then. We’ll see. Marty has expressed interest in Barbara, the B-210 hatch. I should probably take a hit on that one and just let her go to him. I'm probably never going to do anything with it. I just wonder what he wants with it. Probably just to annoy George, now that I think about it. Oh, I just remembered George reads this! He’s probably steaming under the collar right now that I'm talking about him! Hey George! Wanna buy a B-210? It’s licensed until next, oh February or something. All it needs is to have the hydraulics flushed and bled. I even have brand new clutch and brake master cylinders and a new clutch slave sitting in my shop for it. C’mon, you know you want it! Give me a call when you read this and we’ll talk price. Of course, I might just sell it to Marty. We’ll see. Well, I'm getting bored with this for today. I think I'll go check on the supermodel’s needs. Y'all have a day. Buh bye George!
