Well, “Superbad” was. I was bored out of my friggin’ skull twenty seconds into it. And I do mean twenty seconds into the opening credits! The silhouette dancing shtick was totally lame. It wasn’t even tied into anything from the movie once that crap-fest started. I started checking my watch about the time the fat one started talking about what porn website he was going to subscribe to next year. Yeah, I know that was the first scene of the film. It was that bad. The kid from the TV show “Arrested Development” was tolerable except for the fact that he put up with the fat bastard’s crap. The “McLovin” character was probably the standout “Geek Chic” hero. The film should have been more about him and less about fat-ass being a dick. I almost got out my Blackberry and e-mailed Amy at the airport just to keep myself entertained. Now, having said all that, there were some funny bits but I can’t remember any right now. Apparently John has drug me to a few movies by the same producer/director/writer/whatever and I've not been impressed with any of them. Again, I have no idea what other movies this person/group has done so I can’t say. Oh well. Live and learn. After the movie, we walked across downtown, in the rain, to the sushi place and ate. On the way back to the parking garage we stopped in at the tobacconist where I bought a pipe, some tobacco, and a pipe lighter. John bought a cool lighter as well. We puffed on smokables all the way to the truck and back to his house where we stood in the driveway and polluted the air some more. I didn’t make it home for the 2000 h showing of “Monk” or the 2100 h showing of “Psych.” I did stay up for the 2300 h showing of “Psych” but crashed out before watching the midnight showing of “Monk.” I don’t know why they were reversed for the late night showing, they just were. 0830 h Saturday morning, John sends me a text message saying he’s on his way. I reply, “It’s about time! I guess I'll get up.” I then got up and headed for the shop. Well, I dressed, brushed my teeth, and inserted my eyes first of course. What I didn’t do was fly the morning bombing mission. That came back to haunt me later. John beat me to the shop by… well, I don’t know by how much because I forgot to ask, but he wasn’t too far into his project. I checked the air in Matilda’s tires and then the Shaq Attack hit. I grabbed the roll and hopped in the car. “Running to the crapper!” I yelled to John as I took off. It was an uneventful shite. I pulled back up to the shop and started thinking about the Datsun badges for Matilda. I walked around back and found that the junkyard car still had its rear roundel while Herman had both a front and rear. John decided he needed wheel spacers and had to run to the Boys of Pep. His car was incapacitated in the door of the shop so we couldn’t lock up. I didn’t want to send him in Matilda or I wouldn’t have anything to work on so I sent him out in Stinky. He called from the road to say that Stinky really had some pep for a diesel. I agreed. Oh, he had something else to say/ask but I don’t remember what it was. I took the two roundels from the two cars out back and got to work with the paint pens. I painted the black and white portions but had to call John to ask which side was red and which was blue. We decided that the red-white-blue went counter clockwise so I painted them that way. They looked right so I think we made the right decision. He came back and finished up with the front wheels of his car. I ground down one of the roundels for the grille and Pat showed up. We all went to lunch at Sweet Home Chicago in Matilda. We all had Gyros and they were quite tasty. Well, mine was tasty and I assume the other two were as well. Monica, Groma’s stepdaughter who has worked for him off and on for as long as I've been eating there, showed up and hung out with us. She’s twenty now. Hmm. She said something about needing a car so John said he’d keep an eye out for her. We rolled back to the shop and John got to work on the rear wheels of the 510. Pat left and Gregg arrived. I think I'll save the “Road Movie to the Motorsport Ranch” for tomorrow since I'm about to pee in my pants. Have a day.
