I believe I had told y'all about most of my day Saturday and was about to get ready for Gallery Night. I showered and dressed and waited for Amy to call. Mom asked to see “her” new step thingy on (Fifi), the main reason for buying the nerf bar/steps was so she could get in and out easier you see, so I offered to take us to grab some burgers for dinner. We got in the truck and I fired it up. She made no comment about the zorst so I'm going to assume she either 1) doesn’t mind it or B) really didn’t notice. We got out burgers, singles with cheese from Wendy’s, and came home to eat them. At about 1850 h, I decided to give Amy to 1900 h before giving up and changing into comfy clothes and calling it a night. She called at 1853 h. I told her she had seven minutes before I was going to give up on her. We laughed and she told me which house to meet them at. I hopped in (Matilda) and headed that way. I pulled up as the rest of the group did and we went inside. Allison looked (Matilda) over and finally threw up her hands and said, “Ok, it says Datsun. What is it?” I laughed and said, “Nissan Versa,” and she nodded. Inside, Sam was working on floors or walls or something so I shook his hand and we had a little tour of the place. Now, one of Amy’s other friends I may have mentioned before sometimes rubs me the wrong way. Well, she was in rare form this evening. She knew everything about any subject and could get things for people at a better price and was generally a pain in the ass know it all busy body. I've heard the Billy Joel song “Big Shot” on the radio a few times since then; that was her. My eyes got tired really quickly from all the rolling they did every time she opened her maw. Thing is, this is the first time in a long time that she’s been this way. I really thought she and I might actually start to get along. I even almost considered hitting on her one night within the last year when we were all out. I didn’t because I remembered what I thought of her before, and now for that mater, and knew it would end badly. Anyhoo, after looking at the house, and being told exactly what it needed and how she could get it at such a great deal and knew exactly how to do the work to install it, we piled into cars to go to Gallery Night. There were three ladies in one car, two in another, and me in (Matilda). Sam had to stay and work on the house so I was going to be the only guy this evening. I had looked over the group and decided that there was no prospect for “boom chicka wow wow” with any of them anyway so the evening was on really shaky ground with the addition of Miss Know-It-All. I went ahead and followed them to the first gallery. I got a good parking spot right by the end of the handicap ramp as a couple ladies were walking down it to their car. They looked perplexed as to what it was I was driving and one walked to the back to investigate. “It says it is a Datsun,” she told the other. I smiled and went inside. “Keeping the plebes guessing with my ‘exotic’ car might provide some entertainment,” I thought. We looked at the sculptures and stuff inside, and I avoided Miss KIA as much as possible. When it was time to go however, I decided I was not going to follow them around by myself and bid them adieu. Amy was a tad upset but she’s married so I'm not really worried about kissing her ass. I went home and changed into comfy shorts and watched TV the rest of the evening. Sunday I decided I needed to take the (Seven) out for a hoon. I was also going to look at installing a fresh air duct from the nose to the hole in the scuttle. I stopped at Lowe’s and bought eight feet of aluminum HVAC ducting. At the shop I had a look at possible routing locations and came up with one. I didn’t like it. It came way too close to the coil’s terminals, the battery terminals, the alternator’s terminals, the oil pressure sender’s terminal, and the fan belt. No, it would not do. I did go ahead and install a bit of duck I had from before and routed it to the gap in the hood behind the carburetors. I replaced the hood and took off for the gas station. I was a bit afeared it wouldn’t make it because I really had no idea how much gas I had. Turns out I had about a gallon left in the tank. I filled it to the brim and headed west. I did the usual roads and drove about seventy miles before getting too tired to continue. I figure I burned about two gallons of liquid dinosaur and that was enough for one day. Oh, the fresh air duct didn’t work very well at all. Well, it forced warm air into the cockpit but it wasn’t all that refreshing. I parked the (Seven) and had a look at the 510 grille badge I got from Ray for (Matilda). It won’t work. The angle is all wrong and it is a tad too big for the location. I set it aside and decided a “Sunny” badge for the back will be better. I locked up and headed back out for another hoon, this time in (Matilda). I did pretty much the same roads I had earlier in the (Seven) and then went home. So there you have it. That is how I spent my weekend. I guess I’ll talk to y'all again tomorrow.
