I totally forgot to look at DCOE carburetors for (Mr. Wiggly) while I was on e-Bay yesterday. Like I need to buy more crap for that vehicle. We’ll see. I've been thinking about how I'd want to run the throttle linkage. I mean do I want them to be progressive or synchronous? I'm not sure if there would be any advantage to them being progressive other than it might be kind of cool. Then again, how often would the second carburetor actually be used? I don’t know. Would I want the primary carburetor to be the one facing forward or backward? I don’t know that either. I doubt there would be much of a mixture distribution problem with them being progressive. Well, perhaps if the main carburetor is the one facing rearward there might. I don’t know. It really wouldn’t be too tough to make a progressive linkage for it, I wouldn’t think. Oh, did I mention that the orientation of the two carburetors is perfect for a straight-line pull from the throttle pedal linkage in the van? Well it is. Yeah, the more I think about it the more I want to do this stupid idea. I think with a proper jetting on the DCOE carburetors, my mileage might just increase a tad. I think the carburetor that is on there now is just dumping a ton of fuel in and metering very little. The thing will run with the mixture screw turned all the way in for crying out loud. I don’t know, we’ll see. The picture of (George) on my screen saver just popped up a moment ago. I looked at it until it went away just now. I really need to finish that up before moving on to another car. Yes, even before (Marty). Perhaps that should say “especially before (Marty).” (Marty) really does need quite a bit more work than I remembered. There is a ton of superfluous wiring under the hood that I need to remove. I need to find and install all of the components that have been removed from the firewall. I need to trim back the radiator support for the big radiator. The dash needs to be rebuilt, rewired, and installed. I need to decide what to do about the interior behind the seats. John had a good idea that I might steal. He suggested a curtain behind the seats to close off the back of the car from the cockpit area. Then again I might make a parcel shelf sort of thing that comes forward from the bottom of the rear glass and then turns down behind the seats. I'm thinking of a bar welded/bolted in right below the “B” pillars. Then there would be a plane of aluminum going back to the little strip of metal between the rear glass and the trunk lid. Another plane of aluminum would go down from the bar to the floor behind the seats. Of course with the (Chickenhawk's) engine in there, I could take a weight penalty and make them out of MDF or something like that. It would be stiffer, until it got wet of course, and would muffle the noise a bit I'd think. I don’t know, we’ll see. It won’t happen until (George) is done. I think now that it is beginning to not be so hot out, I might just be more inclined to get some work done and finish that car. The problem is I keep finding other things to distract me. First it was getting ready for the trip to the Tail of the Dragon. Then it was the trip to the Tail of the Dragon. Then it was recovering from the trip to the Tail of the Dragon. Then it was the Locost frame in Houston. Then it was trading the Locost frame for (Stinky). Then it was getting (Stinky). Then it was lowering the rear of (Fifi). Then it was redoing the badges on (Matilda). Then it was selling (Stinky). Then it was buying (Marty). Then it was getting (Marty). Then it was getting all the stuff that went with (Marty). Now it is fixing (Fifi's) turn signals. I'm too flighty. I need to concentrate. I need to avoid e-Bay. I need to call this rant complete and go to lunch. Yes, that is what I'll do. Buh bye.
