John thinks DCOE carburetors on (Mr. Wiggly) is a bad idea. Well duh! Of course it’s a bad idea, but it would be really cool. I was giving more thought to the progressive linkage idea as well. I think that aspect of the dual DCOE setup would make it, if not smart, at least reasonable from an engineering point of view. Here’s my thinking. With progressive linkage, the engine would run on a single carburetor at low rpm therefore making a bit more torque, possibly. Once the second carburetor opens up you make more top end horsepower. How would it be any different than a four-barrel carburetor? It wouldn’t. It would just look a million times cooler through the Plexiglas top of the doghouse. I may have to add a power bulge to the side of the doghouse to clear the rear carburetor’s air filter though. We’ll see. Well, we’ll see if I go ahead with this stupid idea that is. No, I need to finish (George) and then (Marty) before doing anything this silly. Ok, I suppose if a set of DCOE carburetors and a new Slant Six intake/exhaust gasket fell into my lap, I'd go ahead with this silly idea. But I don’t see that happening. I just deleted a big thing about how (Marty) is a conundrum for me as to how civilized I want it to be. I know what I'm thinking but I just can’t seem to express it. Suffices to say, it has to do with air conditioning, a heater, a stereo, and low NVH versus solid motor mounts, the suspension Marty built, and the header I built for the (Chickenhawk's) engine. Part of me wants to stop the (George) project and move that turbo engine to (Marty) then use the (Chickenhawk's) engine in (George). (George) is rough enough that losing the heater and having solid motor mounts won’t be such a bad thing. Basically, (George) would become the reincarnation of the (Chickenhawk). Of course the turbine wheels are way too nasty to ever be used on (Marty) so I'd have to lose that part of the turbo theme. Oh, there is no provision for air conditioning on the turbo engine either. (Marty) would be a pretty and quick 1200 rather than a comfortable cruiser. Ok, so I think I've talked myself back into the Z-20 in (Marty). It’s just that air conditioning is one of those things that I always remove from a hot rod. It looks like a total pain in the ass. Ok, I have to stop second and third guessing myself and just get something done. I need to finish (George). Perhaps I should swap (George) and (Marty) in the shop so (George) is more in the way and therefore more likely to get finished. Yeah, like that will work. No, what I need to do is just do it. Knuckle down and finish then get (George) out of the way so I can start on the next one. Holy crap I've got too many projects. Well, I think I'm going to have to shut down for a bit. It is approaching lunchtime so I think I might call this rant complete. Y'all have a day.
