I hate Heritage Days. Today was the Hispanic Heritage day at BNSF. It wasn’t too bad actually. I got to skip out on this one. The one I hate with a purple passion is the Native American Heritage day coming up in November. The people are nice enough but then they bring in the “entertainment” and they start in with the drum banging and the chanting. It drives me up the friggin’ wall! “Just shut the hell up!” I want to yell at them. Oh, and the fucking jingle-bell feathered-boot dancing crap, that makes me want to run from the room screaming! Of course all the groups have their dancing displays so I guess I really shouldn’t single out the NA stuff. At least the other groups have something that passes for music with their dancing. But the real reason I hate the Heritage Day events in general is that I always have to set up a sound system and usually get stuck babysitting the thing. Sometimes I get lucky and there is another event going on the same day and I can play the “I have to cover the whole campus so you have to supply a person to run this sound board” card. Today was such a day. Of course I still had to sweat my ass off setting the thing up and tearing it down later. But now I'm pretty much done for the day and I'm just waiting out the clock. I'll probably cut out a bit early and go get the Seven from the shop. John called to confirm that I am planning to meet them at the Awful House at Lost Wages Trail and I-30 at 0700 h in the morning. Pat also called to confirm the plans. I, once again, invited him to swing by the house and drive Matilda out there but he declined. Actually, he asked if I really wanted to have it out there getting torn up. I think he will be meeting us at the Awful House. I'm not sure who else will be going but I think we’ll have a few cars out there. We’ll see. I need to remember to get some cash this time so I don’t have to borrow from mom again. Oh, I guess I need to pay her back as well. Well, I knew the job was dangerous when I took it. And on that note, I think I'm going to call it a week.
