I still don’t really feel like telling the story of what I did over the weekend. “So why bother talking to us at all?” you might ask. Why indeed? I don’t know. I guess I'll just go ahead and do it since I'm here. Friday I drove Fifi to work. The plan was to go directly to the shop, hook up the trailer, and bring the Seven home. I left work a little early to go do that. I may have mentioned it on Friday now that I think about it. About half way to the shop I shut off the air conditioning to acclimatize myself for the loading of the car. I'm pretty sure it was blowing cold when I did that. I got to the shop and loaded the car and some other stuff then headed home. I'm pretty sure I used the air conditioning then as well. In fact, I remember shutting it off and rolling down the window again to back the rig into the driveway so I must have run the air. This will be relevant later. I parked the rig then mom and I went to have some dinner somewhere, Texas Grill I believe. Amy had called earlier to ask if I'd be willing to park one of my spare cars in their driveway while they went out of town for a few days then invited me to come have a beer on the patio that evening. I said I could do those things. She called again as mom and I were pulling into the driveway. I let mom out and headed to Amy’s. Oh, I was in Matilda for the dinner run and trip to Amy’s, not that it really matters all that much. While hanging out with that group, Josh sent me a text message about something. I asked if he was still planning to come to the track day in the morning. He was. Amy, Allison, and Edie all asked who I was texting. I told them and they asked, “Is he young?” “Is he cute?” “Is he single?” I replied, “Yes, I suppose so, and as far as I know.” I believe it was Amy who followed up with, “As far as you know he’s cute?” “No,” I said while continuing to text Josh, “as far as I know he’s still single.” They continued to barrage me with questions about him and told me to invite him over. I didn’t do it. Eventually the subject was dropped and we moved on. Of course Airport Amy had to send me an e-mail to the Blackberry right about then and it all started over. This time, however, when they found out it was a girl they lost interest. After a while we all left and I went home to get ready for the track day. Saturday morning I got up and headed to the Awful House to meet John and the rest. It was nice and cool so I didn’t turn on the air conditioning. We ate and when we were satisfied that all that were coming were there, we headed west. We did out track day thing and had a decent time of it. Oh, we had to set and strike our own cones and gained a new appreciation for the track owner who usually does that. Gregg’s 510 developed a nasty knock and went on the trailer early. My car ran well so I let others drive it. I may have to stop doing that though, but I'll ‘splain later. John began to get antsy about leaving so I allowed two more guys to do a few laps before we went out to collect the cones. We all parted company and headed our respective ways home. I tried the air conditioner but it just blew hot air. “What the fuck?” I thought. I “followed” John back to the shop, meaning we took the same route but he was a ways in front of me and I didn’t catch up until the actual shop. He had the door open and ready for the Seven so we set the ramps and I tried to ride it off. It hung on the trailer. It was then that I noticed the shifter felt funny. Someone, apparently, “ham fisted” the shifter and bent something. We don’t have time to look at it so I park the car and plan to come back and have a look before the Southwest Sevens Festival this weekend. I'm not sure when I'm going to do that though, probably tomorrow evening. With the Seven parked, I take a look under the hood of Fifi to see if there is something obviously wrong with the air conditioner. Oh, there was. The front of the A/C clutch was totally missing! I have no idea when that could have fallen off. I'm sure I would have heard it while driving. It is a mystery. We close it up and head out. John wanted to go to Not
