I got nothin’ today. I am planning to go to the shop this evening to take a look at the shifter in the Seven. I invited John to come along but haven’t heard back from him. I need to somehow get Fifi over to Amy’s house as well. Perhaps I'll blow off going to the shop if I don’t hear from John. It is “Mythbusters” night after all. We’ll see. I gave passing thought to replacing the fuel filter on Mr. Wiggly and taking him to the Sevens Festival but he needs a safety inspection before any road use. Have I mentioned the fact that I really like that van? I think it has come up. Oh, speaking of Mr. Wiggly and parking a car at Amy’s house, I mentioned to them that I could bring either Mr. Wiggly or Fifi to park in the driveway. I figured they would pooh-pooh the idea of Mr. Wiggly right off the bat. They didn’t. Of course they haven’t seen Mr. Wiggly either. Ok, here’s my thinking. I'll probably go to the shop and have a look at the shifter through the shift boot. If it looks like I can fix the problem without much work I'll do it. If it looks like it is going to take the removal of the center console I'll regroup. I'll replace the fuel filter in Mr. Wiggly and plan to take him to the SWSF. Oh wait, no inspection. Ok, never mind. Forget I said all of that. I guess if the shifter is “terminal” I'll drive Matilda to the event. It won’t be the first SWSF I’ve attended without a Seven. No, we all know I'll limp the Seven out there for the event unless I find something really ugly under the shift boot. It’s not as though I was planning to run the autocross anyway. We’ll see. I guess I can let the weather decide for me. No, if the car is remotely drivable I'll take it, rain or shine. I'm not going to be the guy who parks his car just because of a few sprinkles. There will be enough of those I'm sure. What will suck is if the shifter is terminal and it rains. No one will believe that the car is broken and will accuse me of being afraid to get wet. I believe the forecast is for it to be dry Saturday and most of Sunday. We’ll see. Ok, I've been working on George’s to do list. I have about 26 items on the list with about eight or nine sub-items under some of the main ones. “Do what?” Ok, let’s say one of the main bullet points is “Install steel braided brake lines.” Under that main heading Juan would find the sub-items “Left front,” “Right front,” and “Rear.” Get it? Good. The point is, I am thinking about working on George again. Hey, at least it is better than ignoring the thing completely, right? Right. So, one of the items, with sub-items of a different type, is “Paint car.” The sub-items under that heading are different color options. I mention this for the bouncing of ideas. Option the first: all white. I think that one will get vetoed right away since I have Marty which is all white. Option deux: white with George stripes. Basically repaint it the way it last ran down the road. I think that one won’t happen either unless I replace the hood. The 300ZX scoop encroaches into the stripes. Option C: flat black with gloss black George stripes. A “Mad Max” homage I admit, but I think it might work. Of course without air conditioning a black car in
