I waffled again on the sale of Marty. I sent John a text last night saying that if Goober Snatcher is willing to pay $2,000.00 for it, Marty is his. I was thinking about garage space and how thinning the toy herd down to just George and the Chickenhawk would allow me to “get by” with what I have now, building wise. Well, I'd need to have a drive poured to the back patio but I wouldn’t need to build a shop. But then this morning I found a 2000GT badge on e-Bay and thought to myself, “Self, that badge sure would be cool on the back of a two-liter powered 1200 like Marty.” I bid on it. Oh, I also bid on a pair of badges that say, “Datsun 1300” for George. I also bought something else which might prompt George to be painted another color other than the ones discussed before. I'm not saying what it is yet, nor am I telling the color but suffices to say it would cement John’s assessment of me being, “…such a queen!” I still say Milli Vanilli isn’t that bad. And I am not a queen. Perhaps I can be a bit flamboyant at times, but I'm not a queen. “Methinks he doth protest too much.” I hear Shakespeare saying. Well, shut up you. We all know Francis Bacon wrote all your stuff anyway, you big copycat. Oh, speaking of taking credit for other people’s work, I feel the need to give credit where credit is due. Those pictures John posted for me yesterday, I must admit I did not take them. Most of them were taken by my good friend and fellow Seven owner, Tony Calvert. Others came from the killboy.com website. Hopefully no one’s toes were stepped on by their use. Ok, so I think I'm back to wanting to keep Marty as a nice version of a fast 1200. I do plan to put air conditioning in it and make it as quiet and comfortable as a hot-rod 1200 can be. We’ll see how that turns out. The plan for that car, now that I really think about it, is to be a potential “replacement” for Matilda. Here’s what I mean by that. I want Marty to be a comfortable, reliable, daily driver candidate capable of a hoon on the weekend. It kind of makes me wish I didn’t love Matilda so much. Don’t get me wrong, I'm keeping Matilda. But if something were to happen where I decided it was her time, I'd like Marty to be waiting in the wings to take on daily driver duties (tee hee, I said doodies!). Seriously, I am not a queen, that’s just too funny to pass up. Ok, I have to go do some actual work for a while. I may be back in a bit. Alright, where was I? Ok got it, like I said, I'm not planning to replace Matilda with Marty but as a nice, old, daily driver is how I want to build it. Let’s see if I can follow through on that. So, my gauges and battery relocation kit for Marty arrived yesterday. The 2 1/16” gauges really are considerably smaller than the 2 5/8” gauges. I guess now that I think about it, 9/16” is quite a difference. I don’t know why I was thinking they were only going to be like 1/8” smaller. So, now I really need to think of something to put in the third hole of the dash. I have a pyrometer in there right now just to fill the hole but I'm not sure I want to run that. It is kind of an odd gauge to have in the dash. I guess I'm just going to have to drop the $70.00 for the 2 5/8” Auto Meter Sport Comp clock. I really wish I'd bought the 2 5/8” fuel level gauge now. Ok, stop giving me that look. I'll stop obsessing about Marty and get back to thinking about George. I really need to crawl under the back of George and change that differential. Once I have that done I can install the driveshaft. I sure hope I have a driveshaft. I'm pretty sure I do. I think the one from Gil is sitting there next to Pat’s storage loft. Once I have a driveshaft in, I can fill the transmission. That is assuming I can get to the fill plug. I sure hope I a) haven’t blocked that with the zorst and 2) loosened it before installing the transmission. Oh how I am not looking forward to that job. Let’s see, once I have all that done under the car I'll need to bleed the hydraulics and then I can set the thing on its wheels again. Except for filling the crankcase with oil, I think I'm just about done under the hood. I'm not really done with the hood itself, but under it I think I'm golden. I need to finish wiring and plumbing the gauges and install the front of the heater box still. I want to swap the blue Corbeau seats from Marty in there too. Did I mention I want to use those black leather Saturn seats I bought for Barbecue Bob in Marty? Well, I do. That means I don’t have to shampoo the stinky Eclipse seats in George now. Woo hoo! I'm trying to think of what else George needs before I can fire him up. I have a list elsewhere but I'm not interested enough to refer to it right now. Y'all are just going to have to bear with me. Ok, I've lost my train of thought and I've passed a page break. I think I'm going to call this rant complete and shoost it off to Spiderman. Y'all have a day.
