12/5/07

I have bids on some more “Sunny” stuff for Marty. I won the auction for a Sunny rear roundel and I'm still high bidder on a grille and four wheel center caps. I think they will be adaptable to the wheels I have. I'm sure we can make them work. As for the grille, it looks like a regular US spec 1200 grille but it has the cool double “S” instead of the “D” Juan would normally see. Actually, all of the stuff I'm bidding on has the double “S” insignia. Well, not so much a double “S” but more like a stylized “S” made from interlocking, mirror image “U” shapes on their sides. If you don’t know what I'm talking about, I'm sure Spiderman has put in a link to a picture. Well, that is unless he doesn’t know what I'm talking about either. Shirley, he must. I also bought a “Sunny Coupe” emblem for Matilda which arrived the other day. I need to clean it up some, repaint the “French flag” on it, and remove the mounting tabs from the back before I can mount it on Matilda. “What’s with the French flag?” you ask. Underneath the words “Sunny” and “Coupe” is a bar linking them. It was originally painted blue, white, and red. Blue, white, and red are the colors, and the order, of the French flag. Yeah, I hate the French as much as the next guy, but I'm not one of those posers who hate them because of the war; I hated them long ago because of their stupid language. I think I lost my train of thought there in that last sentence. Oh, I see, while I hate the French, I like keeping my Japanese emblems as correct as possible, even though I use them on the wrong cars at times. Ok, so I use them on the wrong cars almost exclusively. Sue me. It is going to be funny next time I'm pulled over in Matilda and the cop writes “Datsun Sunny Coupe” on the ticket. Maybe it’ll help me to get it thrown out of court. Probably not. Oh, speaking of getting pulled over, I had a dream this morning that I was trying to drive a Formula Continental from my house to… well, I'm not sure where I was supposed to be taking it. Anyhoo, I drive up my street and turn onto Chapin Road to head for the freeway. As I pull away from the stop sign at the access road, two cop cars kick on their lights and wave me over. They didn’t have a problem with me driving the FC on the public roads, per se; it was that I didn’t have headlights and a windshield wiper. It was dusk and beginning to rain, did I mention that part? No? Well, they hassled me for a while then I woke up. I'm not sure what it meant. Wait; was it a Formula Continental or a Formula Mazda? No, I'm pretty sure it was an FC. A Swift DB-6 if I remember correctly. Or is the DB-6 the Formula Atlantic and the DB-4 the FC? No, I believe the DB-6 is the FC and the DB-4 is the FA. I've forgotten so much of that stuff in the last ten years since I went and got a “real” job. I was about to say I missed it, but I really don’t. Regular paychecks are pretty nice, even if I do feel guilty for cashing them due to (tee hee, I said doo-doo!) the negligible amount of work I actually do. Well, I think that’s about all I have for today. I'd tell y'all what I have going tomorrow but I'm not supposed to. Don’t worry, you’ll find out. It really isn't all that interesting so don’t worry about it too much. Toodles.
