5/16/08

So, you might be wondering what happened yesterday. Well, other than Windows Vista sucking ass, not much. Oh, you want to know why I said, “Windows Vista sucks ass” somewhere in the neighborhood of 530 times yesterday? It was a very small incident to be honest. When I came back from doing something and woke the laptop up from the screen saver, something was running in the background somewhere which slowed everything down. It pissed me off so I rebooted and decided it was time to let y'all know what I thought about Vista. So, did you find all the other little comments strewn about in there? Obviously no one read the bit where I said, “E-mail me before 2200 h central time tonight, 5/15/08, and I'll send you $1,000.00 via PayPal.” It was a test you see. Ha ha, you failed. Did you just scroll back down to look for it? Go ahead, I'll wait. Did you find it? Huh, kooky. Oh well. So I've been… hey, come back here! You can go searching for it on your own time. Sheesh, some people. It’s not like I'm going to honor it now that the time limit has expired. Ok, now you’re just annoying me. There, happy now? I went in and took it out so you can just stop looking. Ooh, now you’ll never know where it was. Or was it ever there at all? To quote the wisdom of the Tootsie Pop, “The world may never know.” Anyhoo, so there’s going to be a Vintage race at the new Eagle’s Canyon racetrack in Decatur this weekend. I think I mentioned some of the Sevens folk talking about checking it out to see if it would be a good venue for this year’s Southwest Sevens Festival. Oops, no I mentioned we were talking about checking out a venue, but didn’t specify a location. Oh well, I could go back and edit that but I don’t think letting that cat out of the bag is that big a deal. We’ll see. The point is, I may try to convince John into going north with me tomorrow to see if the reconnoiter of the track and surrounding area is on. Then again, we may just hang out at the shop and play with cars all day. Of course we could go see “Speed Racer” and/or “Ironman.” Juan never knows. Oh, I got an e-mail the other day from the dude in charge of this year’s BNSF Family Day Car Show asking all previous entrants if we were planning to bring a car again this year. I told him I'd have at least Shi-Chi here and maybe Mr. Wiggly. I guess I need to poop or get out of the Ganges and do some prettification to Mr. Wiggly. He’ll never be “beautiful” so “beautification” would be too strong a word. He just needs some sprucing up. Well, I need to go across the street for a bit. I hope I don’t get caught over there when Larry the shuttle bus driver goes to lunch. We’ll see. I'm back. I did get stuck on that side of campus when the dude didn’t show up. I caught the first shuttle back and grabbed a stuffed baked potato just before they ran out. I called desktop support to see if he’d left for lunch yet but got no answer. I assumed he would be there so I headed on over. He was not there so I assumed he’d eaten and headed back already. We were both surprised to see each other when he did finally arrive. About halfway through my ‘tater I got a voicemail from someone needing help in the Bored Room. When I called her back she told me someone had already taken care of it so I didn’t hurry my lunch. I did swing by the Bored Room to make sure and guess who called: the dude who had stood me up earlier. I hopped the next shuttle and went back across the street. I waited for him and got his meeting under way then came back. Now I'm boring y'all waiting for 1700 h so I can go back to the Bored Room and help someone else get set up. They have a meeting in there tomorrow and want to make sure everything is working. Whatever. Ok, so I was talking about prettification of Mr. Wiggly for the car show. I think I want to make the interior into a semi-custom seventies style “shaggin’ wagon” cruiser van. Then again, I might just carpet the floor, walls, and ceiling with some indoor/outdoor and call it a day. I need to seal up the drip rails better though so it doesn’t fill with water when it rains. I think the exterior of the thing might get a re-spray and some vinyl graphics of some sort. John and I were talking about a mural but I don’t think I want to drop that much money. Speaking of drops, we were also talking an air bag suspension and Dayton Spokes. Yeah, I think I'll stick with aluminum wheels, thank you very much. Well, I just passed my arbitrary page break stopping point so I think I'm going to stop. Have a day. Talk to y'all Monday.
