I'm in a really crappy mood. I know why but I don’t really want to talk about it. It has to do with me making stupid financial decisions. Like I said, I don’t really want to talk about it. So, let’s see, what happened over the long weekend? Friday night I did nothing. Saturday morning I went to the shop and changed the oil in Darth Versa. As an aside, I'm not sure exactly how I managed to “fat finger” this but when I tried to type “oil” just then, it came out “poing.” I can see mashing the “P” with the “O” but how the hell did I hit “NG” instead of “L”? It is a mystery to be sure. Anyhoo, I stopped at the Auto Zone on 377 and bought the stuff for the poing change. I got a Bosch filter, one gallon and one quart of Mobil 1. While I was there I also bought the connectors and a fuse holder for the installation of the horn relay. I drove to the shop and nosed up to the porch. When the nose scraped the concrete I backed up and looked for a 2x4. I found one and made a ramp to get one wheel up on the porch. I removed the splash guard and tried the 17mm wrench on the drain plug. It was too big. I got up and went back in for a 15mm wrench. Yes, it was too big as well. Finally, a 14mm wrench removed the drain and dumped the majority of the poing in the drain pan. I removed the old filter and filled the new one then screwed it on. I replaced the plug but not the splash guard. I dumped in the gallon of Mobil 1 and checked the level on the dipstick. It wanted the other quart as well. I knew it would. I poured that in and checked the level again. It was good so I fired up the engine to check for leaks. It built pressure quickly enough and I had a look underneath. No leaks. I cleaned up and checked the time. I probably could have done the relay but decided to go home instead. Remember, I had what could have been considered a “blind date” to the horse races that afternoon? I went home and shaved then took a shower. Mom and I had tuna salad sandwiches for lunch then I headed to Rob’s. Rob and Emily showed me the house and Christina arrived. We all hopped in Rob’s car and went to the races. There was definitely no “blind date” vibe so I relaxed and had a good time. I wound up about $40.00 down after bets and drinks. At 1700 h we left so I could get to Mexican Inn for that birthday party. Remember, I was a little social butterfly Saturday with two events scheduled? Anyhoo, I arrive at the restaurant and park. I don’t recognize any cars so I wait. Pretty soon mom arrives right in front of John’s mom. We all go in and find Samantha’s parents sitting at a large table. Before long John and his brood arrive. We all eat and chat and stuff. I'm still pretty buzzed from the frozen Margaritas I'd drunk at the race track so I had a decent enough time. Gregg calls to ask what I’m doing that evening and I tell him, “I'm done!” I ‘splain, well, pretty much what I just told y'all. I make sure John doesn’t need my help finishing up his car for paint and then follow mom home. I contemplate calling Rob to see where the three of them wound up after dropping me off but decide against it and crash in front of the TV. Now, as usual, I'm going to dole out the rest of the weekend's story over the course of the next few days. Talk to y'all tomorrow.
