10/8/08

Holy moley! I've been running around all day today. They are really making me work for my $6.68 an hour. Of course it really wouldn’t matter if I'd been sitting here at the desk all day because I've got nothing. I did just get an e-mail from Pat asking if there were still discussions afoot for a new shop location to consolidate Dimlight Racing, Roper Photography, and Pat’s new tongue in cheek venture: Sunshine Desserts. I told him that while discussion has stagnated, the idea is still sound. I haven’t heard back to know if he’s found a place or has free time to do some shop shopping. What I need in a new shop, as does John to a lesser degree, is a foreman, or superintendant, or ex-Nazi Death Camp guard to make sure I keep the place clean. It is all too easy for me to say at the end of the day, “I’ll be working on this project again next time I'm down here. I don’t need to put away all these tools.” Of course then I have all my tools spread around the shop and I can’t find the one I need. Garbage management is another problem I can’t seem to get a handle on. Someone to crack the whip on me would be much cheaper than a Maid Service for the shop. Of course as lazy as I am, I'd probably pay a Maid Service to keep the place in order. No, I think if Pat is one of the principles (or is it principals?) of the deal, he could probably brow beat us into straightening up. Ok, I just heard back from him. He’s been thinking about how much he’s spending per month for storage while driving past “For Lease” signs in Kennedale. It is making him want to have a shop again, rather than just storage space. So, we’ll see what he comes up with I guess. I suppose I ought to bounce the idea of Kennedale off of John to see if that is a better, worse, or indifferent hike for him. I seem to remember our old shop being something like twenty-five miles from my house but being all interstate it didn’t take all that much longer to get there than the Beenbroke shop. It takes a solid half hour to get to the shop from my house, and it’s only twelve miles or so. Of course having the shop out there would really make cleaning out the south side of the garage for Shichi make a lot more sense. Yeah, I know I ought to do it nonetheless. Shut up. Perhaps I'll take a look at it this weekend. Hell, if I'd just get in there and start, I'd probably have it done pretty quickly. Thing is, I'd really need a garage door opener on that side because it really is a pain in the ass getting out of Shichi to open the door. No, I'll fight through it for the time being I’m sure. Yeah, I think I might take a look at that south side this weekend. It really would be nice having that thing at home. Having the ability to hoon at a moment’s notice would rock. We could vacate the small storage unit and fill the paint booth, saving me probably $100.00 a month, if Shichi were at the house. Wouldn’t John be surprised to come back from California to find Shichi gone, the paint booth full of storage stuff, and me all “Hey, look at me with an extra hundred bucks in my wallet!” Ain’t going to happen, but he’d sure be surprised if it did. Well, I've been called away at least twice while trying to compost this rant. I think I'm going to just give up and call it a day.
