Ok, I think I have totally decided to become a .45 caliber guy again. Tonight when we go to the range in Whiskey Flats, I'm going to see what they have to offer in a high capacity .45 caliber pistol. I stopped off at CTDOA (Cheaper Than Dirt Outdoor Adventures) and Cutie Patootie’s range store on the way home last night and started the shopping process. I didn’t look at Glocks at CTDOA because, well, I'm a hater simply because they are so popular. There, I said it. They didn’t really have anything in my price range, not to mention I'm broke-ass until tomorrow, so I headed on to Cutie Patootie’s place. She showed me several guns I liked. Ok, perhaps it was because she was showing them to me, I don’t know. Anyhoo, I really like the Taurus and another the brand of which I don’t remember right now. I did go ahead and look at the Glock she carries but didn’t like the feel of it. Surprisingly, a double-stack .45 caliber magazine doesn’t make for that fat of a grip, for the most part. The Glock was the exception and it was too short as well. Yeah, I know I've gotten used to having my pinky under the magazine on Slick Willie and would probably not mind it on the Glock. But it was still a Glock. So I'm leaning towards the Taurus right now. I'm happy with the Judge so having another Taurus wouldn’t be too bad. And being the Taurus Guy won’t upset me too much. Yes, before you say it, I know Taurus makes a 1911 as well. I'd buy one too if I weren’t already set on the stainless Springfield or it was a high capacity. No, here’s my plan: I'll trade John the Hebrew Hammer for the 1911. That will be my home defense and range gun. I'll eventually buy a high capacity .45 in black for my carry weapon, which I'll probably never actually carry, but I might, you’ll never know for sure. I'll see what the dude will offer for Slick Willie and either let it go or hang on to it as a backup. I do really like it. Perhaps that will be my carry weapon until I get a high capacity .45 to replace it. Again, you’ll never know for sure. The Judge will be my bedside gun and occasional play toy at the range or brother-in-law’s deer hunting ranch. The Space Gun will be my “long gun” for accurate shoosting. I'm not so worried about being under-gunned with that since bullet placement is key. I'm pretty sure I could “disrupt the central nervous system” with my first shot and stop an opponent. Hopefully we’ll never have to find out. Ok, I've been debating whether or not I was going to mention this. I guess I will. There is a feature on the Glock I do like. It has octagonal rifling like the Hebrew Hammer. I really like octagonal rifling. It is so easy to clean. I wish the Judge had it! Then again, I'll never fire lead ammo through my carry weapon so it is kind of moo. I think I've just convinced myself that regular rifling isn't so bad with jacketed ammo. I would like to see what a bullet fired from an octagonal barrel looks like. It ought to be pretty weird. Well, I'm running out of stuff to say. I think y'all are just going to have to deal with a short rant today. Yeah, I'm done.
