This morning, mom pointed out that today is a Square Root Day. The math geek in me thought that was cool enough to mention. Of course next week, not this Saturday but the next, is Pi day. Of course the true Pi day won’t be until 2015, but we’ll have a partial Pi day next week. Ooh, Pi day 1592 was the best though! Wow, to have been a math geek way back then must have been awesome! Ok, for those of you who still don’t get it, Pi day is March 14th or 3/14, so 3/14/15 will be the next true Pi day whereas 3/14/1592 was a full on Pi day to seven significant digits. Wait, would it have been 1592 or 1593? Hmm, I guess since Juan would round up, it would have been 1593 after all. Ok, enough of that. The POS GMC is running out of time. I told Kevin that I'd be willing to trade straight up for Barbara, but neither of us has told Jesse that yet. If they show up tomorrow evening to look it over again, I'll sigh and make them that offer. Kevin thinks we can get some cash out of Jesse, but I just want the damned thing gone. We’ll see. On another front, John is brokering another deal for the two A-series engines Aaron has. One is an A-13 and the other is Gil’s A-14 with the hot cam. We’d be trading the Chickenhawk’s welded B-210 differential, probably the whole axle actually, and some other stuff for them. John wants one of these engines for Marty, his 1200, while the other will probably go in George. Yeah, that’s what I need to do, I need to use the A-13 in George so that I can use the “1300 GT” badges I have and not be a liar. I'll probably take the flywheel to Automotive Machine and have the piss shaved out of it first though. I think with the single DCOE and the NISMO header on that motor, with a five-speed and the 4.11:1 welded differential, George ought to be a hoot to drive. Sure, it won’t be as fast as it would have been with the turbo, but I also think the turbo bits in Barbara will be a hoot. Not to mention it would probably get both of them on the road, as hot rods, quicker. Now, the only fly in the ointment with the Aaron trade is the fact that I was kind of planning to use the Chickenhawk’s welded differential in Barbara. No worries, I'll just zook up another one. Oh, speaking of John brokering deals, he found a motorcycle on Craig's List but I'm not 100% sure if he was serious about it. It has a tree growing up through the frame and the guy is asking like $1,000.00 for it. Were it a Honda I might think about it, but since it isn’t I'm going to assume it was a “Hey, look what this douche bag thinks he can get for this piece of crap” joke and move on. Of course the latest plan is to try and make the stock engine run and just see how gutless it actually is. If it is even remotely fun to drive, we might leave well enough alone for a while. I wonder just how much boost that Mitsubishi turbo would make on that little 600cc engine. Conversely, I wonder just how much boost that little engine could take. It seems like I remember it having a ludicrously low compression ratio, something like 8.5:1 or so. The turbo would be a little on the large side for that small a displacement so the boost threshold, what most people erroneously call “lag,” would be pretty high. On the other hand, the reason a Porsche 911 turbo has so much “lag” is that an air-cooled engine needs a bigger turbo because they can’t withstand the thermal load of the zorst restriction a smaller, faster-spooling turbo would afford. Hmm, interesting. I might have to do a little more cipherin’ and figgerin’ on this. Well, we’d need to make the stock engine run first then see if it could take some boost. It could be an interesting thing to think about. Of course a 750cc four-cylinder bike motor would sound better and make even more power. We’ll see. Well, I'm bored with talking to y'all. I think I'm going to call it a rant. Have a day.
