I think I may have fingered out how to transfer all my music from the old laptop to the new one. I have a 2GB micro SD card in my Dingleberry. I'll load it from the old laptop and use that to transfer to the new one. Yes, I am genius. It might be working, I'm not sure. This could take a while. Speaking of taking a while, there were a ton of updates available for Linux when I fired this baby up on the internot last night. I remember Pat saying he had to spend a day downloading stuff to his as well so I went ahead with it. When it came up as 808 files to download, scheduled to take an hour and a half, I texted him to see how many and how long his took. He replied, “A gazillion and all day.” Mine took all of that hour and a half to load and run. I'm sure most of the downloads were totally useless, but I've got them nonetheless. John assures me that Mozilla Firefox will, in fact, go back a page with the “Backspace” button. I don't want to say he’s lying, but it sure as hell doesn't work with my setup. He had me download the latest version but nothing seemed to change, including the inability to go back a page with a button click. I'm also not too pleased with the way MF resizes photos to fit the screen. If the guy loading shots of his girlfriend’s cooter wanted it to be a huge picture, then who is Firefox to say it should be shrunk to fit the screen? Oh, and another thing that irks me, I hate having multiple tool bars taking up valuable on screen real estate. That is where the ability to go back with a button comes in handy. You set the images to “Full Screen (F11)” and toggle back then tab to the next item. Yes, porn. I'm talking about porn. That’s all the internot is good for anyway. It’s the only reason I'm still on line. Get over it. Well, we’re up to 53 files transferred from the hard drive to the 2 gig mini flash thingy. We’re on Angelo Badalamenti’s “Twin Peaks Soundtrack” album. There are a lot more files to go. This could take all day. I suppose it is a tad faster than reloading all of the albums from the individual CDs though. Then again, I could be wrong. I was just about to rag on John and bust his balls about a car he was looking at on e-Bay, but I'm going to take the high road and not do it. I will say here what I forgot to say on the phone to him, “NO MORE ORPHANS!” While I will acknowledge that a WRX turbo powered, five-speed, right-hand drive Legacy wagon would be really cool, really REALLY cool in fact, we don't have room, time, or any of the bits to tackle such a project. We’d wind up with a ratty-assed, N/A 2.2 liter, automatic, sitting behind the shop waiting to go to the crusher. We have enough cars like that right now. OK, so I guess I am going to bust his balls a little. I know I'm not one to talk because I've brought home my share of the still-born projects in the shop, but we have to draw the line sometime. I just erased a declaration that, “by this time next year, Dimlight Racing would be in a smaller location...” and a bunch of other junk. I realized halfway through it was crap. Speaking of crap, we’re up to 100 files loaded to the mini flash thingy, and I need t go take one. I'll be back in a little while. After four and a half hours of downloading, all the songs from the old laptop were on the micro flash thingy. I took that to the new laptop and loaded them into the “Music” folder. Unfortunately, instead of copying them, I cut and pasted them. So now that they do not work on the new laptop, I don't have them on my phone anymore either. I'm a bit pissed off right now. What? Oh yeah, they didn't work on the new laptop. None of the players make any sound when the files are played. They show the gay assed graphics in the movie window, but no sound comes out. Yes, I had the volume turned up. I had every volume control I could find cranked up to full throttle. Oh well, fuck music I guess. It’s just one more worthless thing destined to piss me off. So, now that everything I'm going to get of of the old laptop is off, I guess it can fuck off as well. Perhaps I'll just shut it down and leave it out in the parking lot to see if anyone is dumb enough to steal it. I know I said I was going to take it somewhere and shoot it. Perhaps I still will. We’ll see. Well, I'm too pissed off to continue talking to y'all. Go away.
