Wow, two years ago on this date Pat and I were in North Carolina at the Tail of the Dragon. Somehow it seems like it was so long ago. Perhaps it is because so much has happened with Shichi in those two years. I don’t know. Oh, last night I was on Face Buick taking quizzes and such, when I noticed Edie in the little “available to chat” thingy down at the bottom. I asked about the “cock block.” She denies it, and I believe her. It is going to be funny the next time we’re all together though. I'm sure I'll get a ration of crap about it from her and Amy. We’ll see. Feh, it is only 0900 h on Tuesday. I'm already out of stuff to say to y'all. Let me see if I can work up some thoughts about the shop and/or cars therein. Ok, so when Pat and I arrived at the Purple Cow Sunday evening, he came up to me and said, “Here’s four things about the car: 1) It is not a five-speed. 2) It made me a little sleepy. 3) We need to autocross it, just like it is. And 4) it is still not a five-speed.” I had told him it was a four-speed car when I handed him the keys at the shop but he kept forgetting. As for the sleepiness, we had forgotten to open the rear wing windows before he drove it. I've never driven it with them closed and never noticed a zorst incursion problem. Hopefully that fixed that problem. As for autocrossing it, were I interested in such a thing, autocross in general that is, I'd agree. I just couldn’t care any less about doing that. Ok, it is for totally selfish and ass-holiness reasons. I don’t want to work the corners. There, I said it. That is why I don’t autocross. I'm an asshole who doesn’t want to do his fair share. That, and I don’t care about the competition either. Not “the competition” as in the other folks competing, “the competition” as in trying to beat the other guy’s time. I enjoy watching autocross, for a little while, but I really, honestly, do not care to participate, especially if I'm going to have to work a corner. Hell, the stopwatch ruined the Datsun days we used to have out at Mineral Wells. I stopped having fun once everyone started getting all competitive. I enjoyed the lapping sessions we did at the Motorsport Ranch this last Birkinstock, but that’s because it wasn’t timed. Anyhoo, back to Lil' Wiggly. So, Pat wants us to leave it alone but I don’t see that happening. John and I are planning to drop it and put on a set of wheels soon, I hope. I'm just about ready to put the ugly-assed things off of the A-10 Violet on there for a while. The thing isn't fast by any stretch of the imagination, but it is fun as hell. I think with some suspension and tires, it will be a real hoot. It is a real “momentum car” though. You cannot slow down too much for the corners because it doesn’t have the nuts to zip back up to speed. Fortunately, that’s what I like. Exactly the opposite of a Cobra, or a bike for that matter. It always annoys the crap out of me when bike guys start talking about how fast their shit is. “Yeah,” I say, “but I don’t have to slow down for a turn.” I had a guy say he didn’t either and I replied, “Then why did I see your brake lights back there when you were in my way in that corner?” Boo-ya! In your face, dill-hole! Damn, I'm so friggin’ cool. So cool in fact, I'm through talking to y'all for a little while. I may be back and I may not. If not, only thirteen more days of Windows!
