Did I rant the other day about buying hi-capacity magazines for Space Gun II? Well if so, listen again. Monday evening, I guess it was, I stopped off at BB&B to see if they had the hi-capacity magazines for Space Gun II. I suppose that part could have been left as read, but there it is anyway. The brick & mortar store did not but the catalog/internet store did. I bought four of the ProMag 32 round magazines for it based on the great reviews they received online. I also bought 250 rounds of 9mm ammo because they had those 250 round “Super Saver” boxes of Remington UMP in stock. I got home and tried a magazine in the gun. Yep, you guessed it, it didn’t fit. I tried another. No luck. I'll cut to the chase, none fit. I compared the magazine to the ones that came with the gun and saw that the release catch was too low on the ProMag units, by at least half an inch! That’s not production tolerance, that's incompetence! I was pissed. I packed them all back in their original baggies and put them back in the plastic bag with the receipt and left a bad review of the product on the website. Yesterday I took them back after work. They were very nice and credited my card back for the sale. I then went to look at the regular magazines. I figured, “What the hell? I'll run a bunch of these fifteen rounders.” As I was looking at them, the dude I usually deal with came up and we chatted. I told him about the magazines not fitting. “Do you have,” he asked, “the one that uses ‘92’ magazines or the one that uses ‘PX4’ magazines?” I told him I didn’t know. He asked what my capacity was and the light popped on over my head. When I said, “Seventeen,” he said, “You need ‘PX4’ mags.” I felt a little like a douche for putting in the bad review but I never knew. Unfortunately, ‘PX4’ magazines only come in 17 round capacity. Oh well, I can live with that, I rectum. On the plus side, the PX4 pistol is really, REALLY cool! I want one. I considered buying the one 17 round magazine they had on the rack but decided I'd buy a bunch once I fingered out just how many I “need” to keep on hand. I'm thinking at least four more so that I can have over 100 rounds loaded and ready to go when the zombie apocalypse comes. So, I went home from there and wrote an apology review of the ProMag magazines on the website. Neither has posted so perhaps CTD’s Spiderman deleted the first when he got the second. We’ll see I guess. Ok, I'm going to go away for a bit. I'm back, but only because solitaire was boring me more than the prospect of talking to y'all. I suppose I could go ride around with Larry, or do some actual work or something, but I'm not going to. So I've been thinking more and more about this Beretta PX4 pistol. I can’t decide if it would be a replacement for one of the other pistols I own or just an addition. I don’t want to step back to 9mm as my carry gun so it probably wouldn’t replace Big Millie. I suppose it could replace the Hebrew Hammer as my backup/range gun. It would be cheaper to shoot at the range than the .45 ACP. I don’t know. I really like the Hebrew Hammer. Not only is it a cool assed gun, I get to call it a Hebrew Hammer! I asked a Jewish friend one time if calling it that was offensive. He was not offended by it and saw no reason why anyone but an Arab would be. We agreed that Muslims have no sense of humor anyway and left it at that. If I were smart, I wouldn’t buy another gun just because it uses the same magazines as the Space Gun II. Of course if the PX4 weren’t so cool, I wouldn’t be considering it at all. Of course I'm going to go to BB&B after work and look at one. Academy Sports has them. I'll probably stop in and check it out there as well. Oh, there is a gun show this weekend as well. I know I'll be buying a bunch of magazines and mag pouches there. I guess I'll hold off on buying a PX4 at BB&B or Academy until after the gun show. Yeah, that makes a lot more sense. Ok, I know, holding off and not buying the PX4 ever makes the most sense, but we’re not fooling ourselves that that is going to happen are we? By the way, I already have a name for the PX4: “Pixie.” I suppose Juan cannot have too many guns. I'll probably wind up buying one at some point in the near future. Oh, the other thing I'll be shopping for at the gun show this weekend will be that Marlin Camp .45 Carbine I saw at the last show. Oh yeah, if I find that all bets are off. I really, REALLY want that. I'd have to “trade in” the Hebrew Hammer for a 1911 so I'd have another gun for that gun’s magazines though. Then again, if I'm willing to have a spare gun to match Space Gun II’s magazines, why not another spare to match the Camp’s? The Hebrew Hammer would be totally superfluous, but I do really like that gun. We’ll see. Well, I've filled in a whole page, almost, so I guess I'm done for the day. Speaking of days, only twelve more days of Windows!
