16,029 nights without CPAP, I'm dead. Oh wait, no I'm not! In fact, now that it is getting cooler, I'm sleeping better than ever. Me likee cool sleepee. Well, I drove Lil' Wiggly to work today for the BNSF Family Day Car Show. Have I mentioned just how much I like that car? I really like that car. It is one fine driving old piece of crap. I love it. As I pulled into the parking garage, I noticed a ‘69-’70 Charger (no round taillights so not a ‘68) parked there. I've always liked those, even before the “Dukes of Hazzard” thank you very much. I want one with a Hemi and pistol grip four-speed, doesn't even have to be original. Anyhoo, I saw it and rolled past to park. As I came around to the other side I was looking for it to check the grille to narrow down the year. The car right in front of it was backing out but there was another spot closer to the door so I took that one. I looked at the grille and saw it was a ‘69 (split grille rather than wide open), my favorite year. I sighed and went in to “work.” Whenever I see a really nice restored car like that, I feel a little twang of something for showing a rat like Lil' Wiggly. But then I remember that his involvement with that restoration was probably in the form of stroking a check rather than getting dirt under his nails. At least I stood there and watched as John did the work on my car. Yeah, I'm not going to try and pass it off that I did everything on that car. And the only apology I'll offer for its rattiness is that it is a work in progress. Of course it isn't going to get a whole lot prettier, but I won't tell them that. I'm a function over form kind of guy. I don't care what it looks like, as long as it looks good. No, I'm not going to explain that again. Feh, I don't want to talk to y'all right now. I think I'm going to play solitaire. I'm back. I just remembered I wasn't going to talk to y'all today due to (tee hee, I said doo doo) the car show. I guess you can thank your lucky stars, or the Flying Spaghetti Monster, or god, or whatever that I deigned to give you a rant today. However, I'm done. I'll be heading down to the parking garage to take Lil' Wiggly to his appointed spot in the show soon and won't be back to the desk until Monday. So, have a day. Update! I feel the need to apologize to the owner of the ‘69 Charger. Turns out he is the original owner, he ordered the car new from the factory! So, even if all he did was stroke a check or two, it wasn't as if he bought an over-restored trailer queen. He may not have much dirt under the nails, but there is at least some, I'd imagine. It was a good show. I got a lot of, “Hey! I remember those!” about Lil' Wiggly so I don't feel as bad about showing a rat. It was, simultaneously, the newest and rattiest car there! I was so proud.
