Well, I've blown off the trip to the Hill Country with the Lotus Sevens people. I'm just not happy with the way Shichi is running, not to mention I cannot afford two nights in a hotel, gas, and food for the weekend. I'm not quite ready to write off the race engine (yeah, shut up John) just yet but I don't feel I have enough time between now and the event to sort it out. See, Saturday John came and picked me up and we wen to the shop. We fiddled a bit with Shichi and then I drove it home. It was acceptable on surface streets but once up on the freeway... well, that was different. I still could not pull past 3,000 rpm in fifth. It didn't slow down as bad as it did with the SU carburetors, but it certainly didn't pull either. It looks like the car is going to be a four-speed until further notice. I was plenty pissed off when we got to the house. I planned to take it out again once I'd cooled off but then the weather failed me. Sunday’s weather wasn't any better so I couldn't go for a hoon then either. It was then that I made the Executone decision to forgo the Hill Country Cruise. Mom and I were discussing it and she said, “Let me just play the devil’s advocate. You aren't happy with the way the car is driving, right?” I nodded. She continued, “You have said you can't afford the hotel room, right?” I nodded. She finished with, “Might I suggest that you not go?” I said, “Ok, I'll send them an e-mail saying, ‘My mom won't let me go.’” Today I did send an e-mail but I just said I wasn't happy with the way the car was driving. I then canceled the hotel room, so I'm now totally out on the deal. Now I'm sitting here in the War Room baby sitting the installation guys as they replace the sound system. But I'm losing interest in talking to y'all so I think I'm going to call it a rant.
