10/5/09

Well, you’d think there would be a lot to report having not talked to y'all for two days. You’d be wrong. John and I did not go to the shop to test hoon Shichi on Wednesday. I wasn't too surprised. Actually, I would have been surprised if we had gone. Thursday was uneventful. Friday I cut out of work a little early to run down to the courthouse and renewed the plates for Shichi. I did not pay another $400.00 for the badass plates though so I'm going to have to wait sixty days until the “SHICHI” letter combination becomes available in regular personal plates. They wouldn't give them to me even though I'm the one who has them currently. The computer wouldn't accept it since they are still “owned” in the system. I'm sure I could have pitched a bitch and gotten a supervisor to override it, but I can wait. I did ask if seven character personal plates were being issued yet and was told, “No.” I would have gotten “SHICHI 7” moist likely. Of course then I couldn't “accidentally” use the badass plates with the same number. Not that I would do that (wink wink, nudge nudge). Saturday morning’s plan was to take Lil' Wiggly to the shop and hoon Shichi. I was then going to make an Executone decision as to whether or not I would be taking Shichi home. I'd heard that there was rain forecast but it sure was pretty when I got up. My brother threw the monkey wrench in the works for that plan. He was coming over from Garland to go to lunch with mom and I was invited. Red Hot and Blue barbecue sounded pretty good so I opted for that instead. When we got home, I looked at the radar on the Weather Channel and decided it was not a good idea to try and get Shichi. Instead, my brother fingered out how to hard-boot the wireless router so it would ditch the old passwords. Unfortunately my laptop still wanted a “keyring password” or something. I had no idea what that might be so he looked up how to reset that in Linux. He got me into the source code and we did the reset. All of a sudden... the wireless still didn't work. We fought it for a while until I remembered seeing something about rebooting the laptop. I didn't say anything, just did the reboot. When it came on, it said, “Connection to White House Successful.” “Huzzahs” were raised throughout the land. I goofed off on the internot until time to go meet Amy and friends for Amy’s birthday celebration. We had a few beers at Dutch’s Hamburgers across from TCU and left when the football game let out. From there we went to Sarah’s Place, a semi-lesbian bar on Camp Bowie, where we had a few more beers and made fun of the people trying to sing Karaoke. Eventually I decided I'd had enough and went home. Sunday morning I get a text from Roger asking, “Injun, bait, pizza, or what?” I replied as to which bait shop or pizza place he had in mind. We decided on Parton’s Pizza on Cherry Lane. I ate way too much pie then went home for a nap. While perusing Face Buick, John Ullom asked if anyone wanted to go shoosting. I replied in the affirmative and we settled on The Shooster’s Club on 28th street at 1530 h. I shut down the laptop and took a nap. I woke up right at 1500 h and headed out. I was afeared I was going to make him wait but we pulled into the parking lot one in front of the other. We went in and shot for a while. While I was loading up my magazines, he asked if I'd shoot his gun to see how the sights looked to me. He has a Taurus PT111 like I used to own, basically the same as my PT145 but in 9mm instead of .45 ACP. I took aim at the “8” above center mass and missed it by ¼” to ½” or so. I handed it back to him, trying to not look smug, and said they might be a tad off to the right. He shot some more and then popped his head around the wall and said he had it fingered out. I did watch his grouping and they did tighten up considerably. While he was loading magazines, I handed him my PT145 and let him shoot it. After one flyer, his grouping was much tighter than I was getting with my own gun. My smug look from earlier completely disappeared. I finished off 100 rounds of ball ammo and loaded the fifty hollow-points I leave in the magazines. We loaded up and went out to “shop” for a bit. Eventually we got bored with that and both left. I went back home and “cleaned” the gun a bit then took another nap while waiting for the Japanese Old School Car Meet at The Purple Cow. I was glad I hadn't tried to bring Shichi because it was a tad nipply even in Lil' Wiggly. We had four cars total show up and we hung out for a bit. We went in and ate then all left around 1945 h. I parked both cars at the house and wasted the rest of the evening in front of the TV with the internot on in my lap. So, there you have it. John and I had lunch today and discussed stuff, but nothing worth mentioning right now. So, have a day.
