OK, so I've made a spreadsheet for Nadine’s parts. So far the list is over $9,000.00 for everything. I've broken it down, and don't worry if the math doesn't look like it adds up. The lists overlap, you see. Anyhoo, here’s the breakdown: almost $2,600.00 for the engine parts, around $2,400.00 for suspension and brakes, and the rest is interior, body, electrical and “other” stuff. OK, here’s where the math doesn't seem to look right: I have around $2,300.00 of parts I feel it really needs (things on the engine, suspension/brakes, and “other” lists) to get on the road, about $4,300.00 in “might need” parts (again, from all lists), and something like $2,500.00 worth of stuff I just want (dominated by $1,300.00 or so of new Dayton Wire Wheels). Hmm, the math looks better here than it does on the spreadsheet. Anyhoo, it looks like it is going to be a spendy proposition. Of course I knew that going in. Oh, there is no provision for body work and paint in these estimates either. I'm sure the total will crack ten grand before long. Now, how much will it actually receive? That is a good question. We’re just going to have to wait and see how much “patina” can be lived with. If the engine doesn't need to be rebuilt... well, that would be very nice. It seems a shame to get the interior all “gussied-up” if we’re going to leave the outside “shabby.” Perhaps an “Indian Blanket” interior would suit the thing. Then again, it does seem a shame to half-ass the thing. Of course looking kind of like crap while running down the road is still better than looking like total shite rotting away in a garage. I'd probably be willing to settle for a Rat-Rod reincarnation but mom might say different. Who knows? I'm not sure I have anything to add now. Oh wait, I sort of do. I think John and I may have a tentative plan for picking up Nadine on Saturday. Of course by mentioning it I've totally jinxed it. Anyhoo, I think we’re planning for me to drive Fifi to work on Thursday (have I mentioned we’re moving shop night back to Thursday?) so that we can drop the Violet off of the trailer and round up tools and such to be ready for Saturday. I'll then park the truck and trailer in front of the house and we’ll be ready to go. I'm not sure if I'm supposed to pick him up Saturday morning or not, but I'm easy. Hell, he’ll be helping me out, I ought to be willing to go get him. Ha, perhaps I ought to send him home in Lil' Wiggly Thursday night and have him drive it back Saturday. That would keep me from having to park it on the back patio for a couple days. I don't really mind parking it back there so I don't really know what difference it would make. It would be amusing to see him drive off in a Hello Kitty clad car though. Not as amusing as seeing Gregg drive it, but then John wouldn't mind it nearly as much. Well, it is now 1500 h and I think I'm ready to go play solitaire for the rest of the day.
