11/11/09

Just a quick note today because I only have one little thing to report. I stopped in at... damn, I guess I ought to finger out the name of the place sometime, the British Car shop on airport freeway today. I got an e-mail this morning dismissing me from the one and only obligation I had on my schedule so I went out to ride around with Larry Shuttlebus. Since it was approaching 1100 h I suggested that I run down to Krystals for some sliders. It was decided that I should do just that and therefore I headed that way. Well, it didn't take nearly as long as I thought it might so I swung by said British Car Emporium. I wanted to ask Jeff Sloan, the proprietor, if Juan could bolt on a set of four-lug wheels when the spline-drive adapter is removed from the hub of a spline-drive car. He said it would work for rolling the car around the shop and/or on and off the trailer but that the studs were “too small” to use safely on the road. He mumbled something else about not enough threads so I'm assuming he meant they are too short for safety. He went on to say that the inner-tube tires on there might air up. He claims to have seen it happen before. We shall see. I'm not sure if I mentioned this before, but I have a set of Mercury Capri styled steel wheels which are the spitting image of the styled steel wheels from an MG. I'm hoping they will work as rollers for this restoration. The biggest worry I have about them is the fact that they are probably 13” wheels whereas the wires are 15”. Again, we’ll see. Well, I'm going to be here at 0700 h in the morning and Pat wants to go shoosting this evening after work so I think I'm going to call it a day. Toodles.
