I didn't have anything new to report yesterday so I figured, “Screw it.” I did do a little research into the process of swapping a car from positive to negative earth. Turns out there are only about six steps to it, and one of those is, “Turn the battery around.” The one step that seems at all questionable is re-polarizing the generator. Apparently you zap the “Field” terminal with positive twelve volts a couple times, shooting sparks each time I'm told, and you’re done. Oh, the other steps include swapping the wires on the coil and the ammeter as well as disconnecting and reconnecting the battery. Let’s see, is that six? Disconnect the battery, turn battery around, swap wires on ammeter, swap wires on coil, re-polarize generator, and reconnect battery, yep that’s the six steps. Once I knew how easy it was going to be, and that a bunch of wiring wasn't involved, I ordered a new wiring harness for the car. So I'm into the thing now for $430.00 or so. Oh yeah, here’s what happened when I left early the other day. I called Nadine and asked if she wanted to meet and do the paperwork on the car. Apparently a 1958 title says it must be signed in front of a notary. We were too late to get to the bank to do that so we arranged for her to do it and then drop the title off at the house. I wasn't in any big hurry but I thought she was. Anyhoo, when I got home last night, there it was. She also signed a title transfer sheet for me. Right away, I made a copy of the front and back of the title for the notebook I'm planning to make for the car since I'm sure the state is going to take the original away from me. I guess I'll get those “NADEEN” license plates for it too. Hell, it’s only $40.00 more. And speaking of throwing money I don't have at this thing, I'm considering the sale of Shichi again. If I took whatever Dick Brink was willing to pay for it, over $10,000.00 of course, I could probably finance most if not all of the TR project. It is a conundrum. I know I would regret it, immediately and forever, and it might cause me to resent the TR later on. Wow, there’s some psychological insight. I just thought of that. If things got rough working on Nadine, and I had sold Shichi to finance it, it is entirely possible I'd begin to hate the TR. Interesting. Well, with that in mind, not to mention I just bought head studs for the A-15 I was going to rebuild and put in Shichi, I think I'm going to plan on keeping it for a while at least. Besides, what is the point of being a swinging bachelor if you can't have multiple toys? Oh yeah, I am so going to be “That Guy!” Tee hee. And on that note I think I'll call it a rant. John and I may try to get the wheels off Nadine tonight. I'll let y'all know how that went tomorrow.
