Feh, I'm back at work again. I've spent the morning fingering out what the hell is going on, what went on, what e-mails I need, what e-mails I need to delete, and generally getting back into the swing of things. I think I may be caught up now. So, since we last spoke... OK, I don't remember where I left off. I guess I need to do a little research right quick. Hang on. OK, I see that I left y'all with the tale of the dinner discussion about the TR-3. I guess I ought to let y'all know that the car, in keeping with the DLR tradition of naming after previous owners, will be called Nadine. Of course that plate is not available but “NADEEN” is. I might go with that. We’ll see. OK, so with all that in mind, here’s what happened the rest of the week. Pat called to say that his truck’s oil pump crapped out and wanted to know if he could borrow Fifi. I said he could and he did. Unfortunately, this left me truck-less when mom wanted to go get new closet doors for her room. We went in Lil' Wiggly. Well, I drove Lil' Wiggly, mom followed in her car. We bought the doors and took them home. It was funny, some of the looks I got from people as I was loading four double doors into the hatch of a B-210. I wanted to say, “Yep, I own a truck. I'd rather drive this though.” OK, so the doors sat in the hall downstairs for a few days and finally I decided to try and install them. I was hoping that they would plop into place in the old tracks and hardware. No such luck. First I had to... wait, this story is really boring now that I think about it. Suffices to say, it took all day and I was whipped when I finally got them all hung. Of course I had to go back the next day and “tweak” them a little to close the center gap but mom is very happy, so she says, with the results. We never made it to the shop or to Nadine’s to look at the car on Saturday but I think I did something during the day. I know at some point I took an inventory of my ammunition and saw that if I shot 32 rounds of 9mm, I'd have an empty storage box. I did that and then refilled it with 100 rounds. I also refilled the empty 100 round box of .45 ACP ammo I'd shot a few weeks ago with John Ullom. I still have a few empty spaces in my .45 Colt ammo supply but I'll fill that in soon enough. Halloween night I made up a “Dead Alien” and stuck it in the hatch of Lil' Wiggly for the “Trunk or Treat” thing at the church. It is still back there. Sunday I... well, I'm not sure what all I did Sunday. Oh yeah, Larry Shuttlebus and I went to the gun show. I set the following rule for myself: “If I find a Taurus PT-145 with a stainless steel slide for less than $300.00, I would consider buying it.” Fortunately, I did not find such a gun at that price. Now, I did get Big Millie appraised at Cabela’s and they said they’d give me $200.00 for it. That would make the price of a new SS slide PT-145 in the $150.00 range. I could almost gopher that. I won't though because Big Millie has such a low surreal number. Yeah, if I buy a stainless slide PT-145 as my carrier, I'm going to keep Big Millie. Anyhoo, we didn't find one I thought I could afford. I did buy a Taurus magazine for it to replace the one after market mag which fits a bit too loose and won't feed the last round. I also bought a shoulder holster for Pixie. Now I'm wishing I hadn't bought that second double mag pouch the other... wait, no it was the quad-mag pouch I bought. I already had two double mag pouches. Anyhoo, now I'm sitting here wishing I had one, maybe two more magazines for the Space Gun II and Pixie. John is rolling his eyes right now. Cut it out or you’ll get a headache. Anyhoo, Sunday evening I drove Lil' Wiggly to the car meet at the Purple Cow. Why didn't I drive Shichi? Well, two reasons, one, it was a tad chilly, and B) I don't want to risk blowing up that engine. It is far too highly strung to run on the street but Gregg wants to buy it to install in the 1200 he just bought from Aaron in order to make it into a race car. Here’s my tentative plan: Saturday morning I'll go to the shop in Fifi (Pat returned it the other day when he got the Saab legal again, by the way) and hook up the trailer. I'll drop the HL-A10 Violet off in the empty spot next to John's 620 truck. I'll go to Nadine’s and get the TR-3. I'll take that to my house and roll Shichi out of the garage. I'll make just enough room for Nadine (the car) in the garage and drop it there. I'll load Shichi on the trailer and take it to the shop for an engine-ectomy. Yes, I do realize that is going to eat the entire day. I'm prepared for it. I think. Well, I think I've said enough for today. I do have a few more tidbits of info, but it can wait for tomorrow. Have a day.
