Part of “The Call” yesterday about my engine work at Automotive Machine was to ask how soon I wanted the stuff. I told him, “Of course I'd love to have it all back by Friday so I can put it together this weekend.” I was told it might be possible, but it would be cutting it close. I said it was all right to put it off until next week and that they didn't need to hurry. But that was when I thought I might have to “babysit” my old college friend Navajo on Saturday. Now that he’s not coming into town, I am going to be sitting around for another Saturday at the shop without an engine to assemble. Poop! Oh well, what are you going to do? I, apparently, will be trying once again to get the “new” tires mounted to the wire wheels for Nadine. That’s probably for the best, I suppose. I'm not sure why, but I suppose it is. Let’s see, what else can I talk about? Oh, I almost bought 2,500 rounds of 1970’s era Pakistani surplus 9mm ammo the other day. OK, I was only going to buy 1,000 rounds but the deal looked so good on the surface that I asked John if he wanted in on it. It wasn't until I actually had to tell him that it was 1970’s era Pakistani surplus that I realized it was 1970’s era Pakistani surplus. I actually laughed when I had to send that information to him. It was one of those, “What the hell were you thinking in the first place?” sort of realizations and was actually kind of glad he declined the offer. Sure, I then immediately went to the website and tried to order 1,000 rounds for myself, but they were on backorder. So, whew, I guess. I'm in a bit of a quandary about my ammunition supply actually. I have on hand 400 rounds of .45 ACP ball ammo and fifty rounds of .45 ACP jacketed hollow points. In 9mm I've got 353 rounds of ball and eighteen rounds of JHP. The only caliber where I feel like I have the right type for “Social Work” is my .45 Colt ammo which is all JHP, but I only have about sixty rounds of that. Anyhoo, the point is, I feel like I need to shift the balance of power towards more JHPs in the other two calibers as well. I think, from now on when I replace the ball ammo I shoot at the range, I'm going to buy JHPs until I have something on the order of 450 rounds of JHP, and only 100 rounds of ball in .45 ACP and 271 rounds of JHP and only 100 rounds of ball for the 9mm. I'll always want a hundred rounds of ball ammo in each caliber for impromptu trips to the shooting range, I think. Think to come of it, since I have an empty 100 round storage box for .45 ACP ammo, I might stop in at Blood Bath & Beyond “on the way home” tonight and pick up a couple boxes of JHP. I wouldn't want the Zombie Apocalypse to start without having a full supply of bullets. Maybe I'll go pop off a couple hundred rounds of 9mm ball this weekend and replace it with JHP. Yeah, perhaps I'll go empty the nine magazines full of ball ammo stored with the Space Gun, and probably another hundred round case, and refill them with hollow points. That ought to be fun. I do like shoosting that Space Gun! I need to get Mossy out again sometime and blow some shit away with shotgun shells. The problem there is, I don't have a good “blow some shit away with shotgun shells” sort of shoosting range. I need to get together with my brother-in-law and go out to his hunting ranch so we can do some outdoor shoosting. I'd like to try the Judge out on some watermelons and stuff like that, speaking of blowing shit away with shotgun shells. Whoa! I just looked at the clock and saw that it is 1615 h. I think I'm going to call it a day.
