1/18/10

Well, I did it. I managed to make it through the weekend without splurging and buying the Kel Tec. Friday, as I said in the addendum, I did not stop at Blood Bath & Beyond. Saturday morning mom and I went to the Credit Onion so she could cash in a Certificate of Deposit then we had lunch at Red Hot & Blue. They have a “Ribs for Two” deal going on so we had catfish. No, we had ribs of course. From there I went home and sent John a text asking when he wanted me to come help him move. He said 1400 h, I think, so that was when I went over, I think. I went over at whatever time he said, that’s the gist of what I'm trying to say here. We move all of his big ticket items from the old house to the new one and then he dismisses us. Of course my little tiny eight-year-old-girl bladder is about to pop when I head for the house. I regret not having my badge with me or I would have stopped at the railroad and had a quick pee. I debate stopping at BB&B, I know where their bathroom is, but keep going instead. Yep, I talk sense into myself from time to time. I don't do anything else the rest of the day. I talk to Tony about a “new” Subaru he’s thinking of buying. I tell him I loved my Legacy and what a great car it was. Damn, I miss that car. After talking to him for a while, Pat calls to say that he and his family are meeting Tony, Orlando, and Dawn in the morning at some bagel place. I say, “I'll try to make it but John wants to move a car so we’ll see.” or something to that effect. Sunday morning just as I'm about to get ready to meet the AnDersons and Calverts at the bagel place, John calls. We decide that he will pick me up “on the way” to the shop to get the trailer. I text Pat to bow out on bagels. I don't really worry too much about it since Tony never mentioned bagels when I was talking to him so I'm not even 100% sure I was supposed to be invited. I get ready and wait for John. Now, this next part is going to sound like I'm busting John's balls for making me miss the bagel thing, turns out I had plenty of time to make it to both by the time John arrived to pick me up an hour later. Oh well, no biggie. We go to the shop and hook up the trailer. I grab the straps and throw them in the back of the truck and we head out. The car rolls onto the trailer with ease and we strap it down. At the new house, the car rolls into the garage and we close up. Then we go to Pho King Way for lunch. Yeah, that is the name of the place, Pho King Way. They had pretty good Pho King food too. The spring rolls were especially Pho King good. We finished up and headed back to my house. As we were about to cross under I-35 on Loop 820, John's phone rings. He’s talking as we pass the exit for Blood Bath & Beyond so I can't ask him to stop for me. Once more, sanity prevails and I don't buy a superfluous gun. He drops me off and I hop in Ms. Clio. I stop at O’Reilley’s and buy a one gallon jug, plus one quart, of Mobil One oil and an oil filter, then head for the shop myself. John is just finishing up unloading so we chat a bit more. He helps me set the ramps and then leaves. I put on some overalls and change the oil. I decide to have a quick hoon on the way home. I go “south” on Granbury road to 1187. At the turnoff to go north and hoon or south along the back roads to Cresson, I go south. In Cresson I pick up Hwy 170 and go west, or north, whatever way goes to Weatherford. I turn off on Bear Creek and hoon back to Muir road. Muir takes me to the west end of the fabled FM5. I hoon back FM5 to 1187 again and thence to Aledo/Iona road. I turn off on... um, the twisty road that goes between A/I and I-20 and then head home. As I'm approaching my exit, I debate calling mom to see if she wants tacos for dinner. It is still a bit early so I head on home. She does want tacos so later on I go back out for them. There really is a point, I'm getting to it now. When I go back out for the tacos, I don't change clothes. I stay in my big baggy shorts and t-shirt. “I really wish I'd bought that Kel Tec,” I say to myself as I attempt to, unsuccessfully, conceal Pixie. So, now that I have a scenario where the Kel Tec IS the right gun to carry, I think I might just have to go back to BB&B to get one. I'll let you know about it tomorrow.
