2/4/10
When I got to the car yesterday after work, there was water on the inside door panel and in the gap between the A-pillar cover and dash. The floor looked wet too. I decided it was time to have Nissan fix that sunroof drain. I dropped the car off and called mom to come pick me up. When she arrived, she told me that the power was off in the neighborhood and she needed to talk to me about something. I knew the HVAC man was supposed to have been there to inspect our system and was a bit concerned. We went to Olive Garden and ate. She told me what the guy found. I won't go into the list but suffices to say a new system isn't a bad idea. “Unfortunately,” she went on to say with an ever so slight grin, “the whole new system installed is going to cost around $7,900.00!” I laughed because I was expecting a one or two in front of that seven. We agreed that it was the thing to do. I pointed out that this would also be the perfect time to move that compressor so I could build my shop right next to the house. She hadn't thought of that. Well, she called a little while ago to ask if I had anything on my schedule for the end of the day. The guy is coming back this afternoon to have a final look-see at things and she wants me there to ‘splain where I think I'd like the compressor moved. Apparently moving that won't be a big deal. So, I thought I'd drop by and give y'all this little rantlet before calling it a day. Oh, the power! When we got home from dinner it was still off. I needed to go fill Fifi's gas tank so I did. When I returned, the neighborhood was back on. We weren’t of course, but everyone else was. I called TXU and was told I needed to talk to Oncor. I called Oncor and said, “Well, y'all got the rest of the neighborhood lit up, but missed us.” He asked if I'd checked the breakers. I checked them while talking to him, they were fine. He said a trouble ticked had been placed and they’d get to it as soon as possible. I sat down in the front room and watched out the window waiting for the truck. I felt like a Bond Villain sitting there with me cat in my lap watching out the window. After about half an hour, the rest of the neighborhood went off again. I laughed and went to tell mom. I sat back down and waited some more. Perhaps five minutes later everything came back on. I guess they had to shut off everything to reset our switch too. I don't know nor do I care. I reset all the clocks, blew out the candles, and sent yesterday’s rant to Spiderman. So, now I'm going to call today complete and go meet the HVAC man. Toodles.
