7/26/10

I don't know if Thursday’s rant got lost between me and Spiderman, by Spiderman, between Spiderman and Blogspot, by Blogspot, or what. I also don't really care. It was a few lines about converting the Chickenhawk to be an electric car. The weight and cost of the project has pretty much talked me out of it so the whole thing became moo. I also made reference to the possibility of selling The Seven to finance it if Nadine turns out to be sufficiently “British” to suit my needs. Of course one drive made that idea fly right out the window. So, Saturday John, Pat, and I went shop shopping. John texted me and asked when I was headed to the shop. I asked if he’d mind coming by my house to motivate me to go at all. He did and I asked him to take a quick detour. We got the phone number off of a new shop complex building by my house but didn't call. While discussing whether or not we were actually going to the shop, I saw another “For Lease” sign. We stopped. It was a neat little building right on Hwy 80 west of Loop 820. John called about it. I called Pat to come see it. It is small, but that is kind of what we need. I need to cull my herd a lot. Pat showed up and we looked it over. I like it but it is small with a huge, wasted space, parking lot. We decided to go check out a place off of 820 up here by the railroad. It was a newer complex catering to Big Rig repair type places. John called and was told that the usual rent was $2,000.00 a month but if we’d sign a one year lease he’d give it to us for $900.00 a month. We looked in one shop with an open door and there is plenty of room for all of our stuff, the salvageable stuff that is, but wow! The other concern is what will happen after a year if the economy bounces back? They are going to say, “OK, that’ll be two grand a month from now on, thankyouverymuch.” I'm not all that excited about that place. John got a call back from the landlord of the first place, after leaving a message asking when we could see inside, and we set 1300 h to meet him there. We had lunch at the Spaghetti House on Blue Mound Road. There is a “Goth Girl” waitress there who puts the “Goth Girl” at the railroad to shame. You remember the “Goth Girl” from the railroad don't you? The one I dreamed about and went “looking for” at the strip club a few years back and wound up blowing $1,000.00? Yeah, this girl is much better looking. OK, she’s a little “hippy” and has a bad case of “long shirt,” but I'm a face guy so... Anyhoo, we ate and then headed back to meet the guy. Turns out the keys were in the mailbox and the right hand door wasn't even locked! We looked around and saw immediately it was too small for the three of us. I think John and I could use it but we’d have to get in at a much better price. Oh, he’s asking $850.00 a month but is having trouble getting a tenant. We finger if we sign a long lease, we might get in cheaper. I wonder if he’d just sell it to me/us. Hmm. Well, after looking it over for a while we all left. Pat went his way and John dropped me at my house. Later that evening I took The Seven over to Rob’s house where Navajo was staying while in town. That was the drive which totally put the kibosh on selling the car by the way. Sunday I waited for mom to get home from church and then we went to lunch. I showed her the potential shop first and she approved, mainly for the convenience of the place. After lunch I decided to put the Birkini top on The Seven and go for a hoon. I loaded up a couple bottles of water in a cooler and headed out. About an hour and a half later I came back home. It was a good hoon. Well, that’s about all I have for today. Later.
