6/7/13
There are plans afoot. John and I are going to East Texas tomorrow
to hopefully pick up a ’74 Datsun 610 for him to use as a daily driver. [ Thanks for the jinx - SM ] Through a set of circumstances which aren’t
any of your business, once he has that going and the Versa sold, I will be in
possession of sufficient funds to purchase another dumb-assed project. My initial thought was that Mini in Little
Elm. John and I simultaneously looked at
the Craigslist ad and agree that it will be a lot of work, but will be cool as
hell when finished. I'm thinking of
leaving it kind of rough and making a Rat Rod out of it. That would cut the workload down
considerably. We’ll see. Another thought I had was that Alfa Romeo
Spyder Veloce in Not Texas in need of an interior and fuel system. After some consideration, I decided that the
Mini was the way to go. Now however,
I've just looked up the difference in price between the install kit for the
Honduh engine in a Mini versus the carburetor swap kit for the Alfa… yeah, the
Alfa is BACK in the running! We’re
talking $1,500.00 or so for the Alfa and up to $7,500.00 for the ultimate Mini
kit. John and I will be having
discussions on our way to get the 610 tomorrow!
Of course what makes the “most sense” would be to keep and revive the
Spitfire as my fiftieth birthday present to myself. We’ll both turn fifty in 2015, I've always
lurved Spitfires, I've already got it... although it IS promised to John right
now and I don’t really need two Little British Cars. I'm sure we’ll discuss that situation as
well. Well, it is past 1600 h and I
think I've just about said all I have to say this week. I'll let y'all know how the trip to the Piney
Woods turned out on Monday.
