1/2/14
So here we go again. I don’t remember
what all I was talking about the other day so I'll just dive in to what I did
NYE and NYD. Tuesday I went to lunch
with mom at Razoo’s because they have fried green beans on the appetizer
menu. They are quite the tasty. Applebee’s has a better horsey sauce for
dipping, but Razoo’s has more beans.
Both places do them up with lots of salt and pepper and, as mentioned
before, they are quite the tasty. After
lunch I took Fifi to Iffy Lube to get it inspected. Oh, Sunday after the gun show I went and had
Fiona’s oil changed and tires aired up.
I really otter keep better tabs on those tire pressures as the left rear
was below ten pounds, apparently.
Anyhoo, I pull up in Fifi to do the inspection and notice a really long
line. I don’t wait. I take off for the Ford dealer… to look at
vans, not for the inspection. They
didn’t have any vans on the lot so I rolled next door to the Fiat dealer. I got out and began walking around the cars
out front. Fiats are a bit more spendy
than I remembered. Of course I was only
looking at the Abarth models but searching for the elusive non-Abarth turbo
model. Eventually a sales lady came out
to talk to me. I asked about the turbo
and she said they had two left. We went
inside and did the preliminary paperwork.
I told her about the possibility of the new job and that if I got it I
might be interested in this as a toy car in addition to the Hyundai and Ford…
and Birkin, and Spitfire, and B-210, and 1200, and Mini. She got keys and went to retrieve the
car. After a few minutes she returned…
on foot. “That one was out of gas,” she
said. “I'll get the keys to the other
one.” This she did and pulled up to
where I was standing. “This one is low
too, but it started!” she said as she went inside for the gas card. We got in and headed to the nearest gas
station. We did not make it. About 500 yards down the road, ti sputtered
and died. Fortunately I had enough
momentum to make it around the corner and most of the way to the gas
station. We had to push it that last 100
yards up the drive to the pump. She went
in and paid while I pumped ten dollars into the tank. With petrol in the car, we took off for a
test drive. It zipped up onto the
freeway with alacrity and buzzed along at freeway speed easily. At the “Tim Around” to turn back under the
freeway, I hooned it somewhat. Back on
the freeway I asked if she minded a hoon around Heron Trail. She was fine with that so we headed up to
Lost Wages Trail and onto Heron. I noticed
that fifth gear acceleration was on par with Fiona from 60 to 80… I'm sure the
Hyundai would stomp the thing from 0-60 and 80-100, but it was quite
useable. On Heron Trail, I took it a
little easier than I usually do in Fiona because I still hadn’t gotten the seat
just right… and I didn’t want to stuff someone else’s car! I made the comment that Fiona’s days might be
numbered… they probably aren’t, but… we’ll see.
We returned to the dealership and I said I could not do anything until I
got the new job, which is still up in the air.
She made me meet her manager and said she would check in with me
later. I said that would be fine and
left. Then I went back to Iffy
Lube. There was no line this time, but
there was also no insurance card in Fifi.
I went home to try and find one.
I was unsuccessful. I decided
that I would wait until today when I could print out a card at work. This I have done. So, now I'll get the thing inspected either
tonight or tomorrow… Saturday at the latest.
I settled in to watch the “Twilight Saga” wait… that’s not right! “Twilight Zone!” I settled in to watch the “Twilight Zone”
marathon on Sci Fi Channel. No, I still
won't use their retarded-ass spelling.
At midnight I went to bed. Since
I'm approaching the end of a page, actually I've past it but I’ve come back
again, I'm going to save the story of New Year’s Day for tomorrow. It was getting a little long winded
anyway.
