I’m not sure where to start. Of course
that makes it sound like I have a lot to say… I don’t. Hmm, let me go back a few lines and see what
I was talking about before. Hang
on. Ok, it looks like I was gassing on
about some nonsense bullshit… so I’ll continue in that vein! As for the woman I met at the reunion, we’ve
texted back and forth a few times. I’m
not sure where her head is at but it doesn’t seem like she’s picking out china
patterns so I’m just going to roll with it.
As for the Subaru, it is still in the Andrijeski’s garage. And as for the Seven, well there IS a story
there. I told y’all that John put an ad
on Craigslist, right? Well, after a week
of nothing, I finally got an e-mail about it.
Ok, so Gregg Gary called to ask and one dude on a forum commented on it
being for sale, but I finally got a bite from an stranger. I forwarded it to John and replied. This morning I got another e-mail seemingly
from the same dude but from a slightly different address. It was too early to send it to John for his
opinion so I ruminated on it until “the sun was warm.” I had convinced myself that it was the right
thing to do and worked through a couple ideas of how I would distribute the
money. Then, around 0730 h I sent John a
text telling him about the second e-mail saying I would forward it when I got
to my desk. He replied that the first
e-mail was from a scammer. I asked what
the tipoff was and he replied, “item.”
Once that wording was pointed out to me, I re-read the original, and
subsequent, e-mails and saw the scamminess myself. Not once did the buyer mention the Seven
specifically and the way the deal was to go down was not feasible for a car
purchase. Hang on, let me see if I can
cut and paste the contents of the e-mails right quick. The first e-mail read thus:
Is your item still available for sale?
When I replied that it was, I got the following:
Thanks for your swift
response, I'm seriously interested in buying this for my Father as gift, your
asking price is quite reasonable and affordable considering others I've seen
lately, I'll take it. I would have loved to come check it out my self but am
currently in camp as military seer instructor for new recruits. I however
squeezed out time to check this posting as all personal dealings are highly
restricted here, i really want this as a surprise gift for my Father so i won't
let him know anything about this until it get delivered to him and due to the
fact that phone calls making are restricted......i will be paying you with my PayPal
account because it's attached to my bank account and its safe and very secure
way to make payment. If my mode of payment is accepted just send me your paypal
email address,(Paypal ID) so i can pay in right away. I have a private courier
agent that will come for the pick up after payments has been made, so no
shipping included. I'll need your name, the pickup address or location
and please include your PayPal email address for the payment and send me some
recent pictures if available And if you dont have a paypal account, you can
easily go to www.paypal.com and sign up. its very easy. I await your
reply asap
So, the more I read it, the more I am convinced that it
comes from Scammy Davis Junior. I’m not
sure how to reply to this one. I’m
thinking that I might say something to the effect of, “When CAN you come check
it out? I’m in no hurry to sell and, in
fact, I have entered it in a car show at the end of September. If you want to wait until after that…” and
more bullshit along those lines. Well,
the car show isn’t bullshit, I have registered it for the BNSF Family Day Car
Show again this year. I fingered that if
I entered Lil' Wiggly then I would not get it finished in time. I never do.
If I DON’T enter Lil' Wiggly, I might just have it running in the next
month. Cunning, no? So, there’s that going on. Speaking of Lil' Wiggly, we jacked it up onto
stands last Saturday… and then didn’t do any work on it. I think it is the usual summer heat induced
apathy kicking in… of course I’ve been pretty apathetic about it for a while
now, to be honest. Oh well. So, now that all of that is out of the way, I
can talk about the latest thing which is distracting my attention from important
stuff. I think I may have found my next
new car… if they ever build it. I was
reading “Dilbert” the other day and saw a popup ad for something called Elio Motors. If the hyper… um, thingy works you should be
on their website. Of course if you are
on their website, you won’t be reading this.
Ok, don’t click the link just yet!
Anyhoo, it may be another scam, seeing as how they are taking deposits
on cars they haven’t even finished designing, but it is intriguing enough that
I’m actually considering throwing $100.00 into the pot to get a spot in
line. Of course there are, according to
the website which y’all shouldn’t be looking at yet, almost 27,000 folks in
line ahead of me. Hmm, now that I think
about that… it could be several years before they work through that
backlog. Of course that would give the
early adopters time to work the kinks out of the system. I don’t know, we’ll see. Well, NOW you may go check out the Eilo
website because I’m done talking to y’all for the day. Toodles.
